Rebel Moon Part 1 – A Child of Fire concludes, setting the stage for a new sci-fi universe. If you're feeling confused, here's a breakdown of the ending. Originally inspired by Seven Samurai and Star Wars, the grand small-screen space opera by Snyder is now available on Netflix after nearly becoming a TV show.
The film follows Kora (Sofia Boutella), an Imperium soldier wanted for desertion and other crimes, who crash-lands on a distant moon and seeks peace. However, she is faced with forces from Motherworld, prompting her to gather the best rebel fighters in the galaxy to protect her village and end oppression and violence. Since Rebel Moon is a new IP, keeping track of the world-building and setup for Part 2 can be overwhelming. We aim to provide the necessary details here, but beware of spoilers.
Rebel Moon Part 1 ending explained
Rebel Moon Part 1 concludes as Kora and her five companions (Gunnar, Tarak, Nemesis, General Titus, and Millius) return to a liberated Veldt, free from the clutches of the Imperium. However, Admiral Atticus Noble survives, and we witness him being brought before Regent Balisarius, who reprimands him for his failure to quell the rebellion and instructs him to track down Kora, his own daughter.
Kora gathered her team, which included Darrian Bloodaxe (Ray Fisher), along with a small army from King Levitica’s home of Sharaan. Kai shared his desire to leave his thieving past behind and join her cause. They flew to Gondival, a hub for stolen cargo, where Kai could get rid of everything on his ship and start fresh, ensuring a clean break from his criminal past. However, things took an unexpected turn when his boxes revealed paralysers inside, resulting in the capture of everyone, except for Gunnar. Kai confessed that he was enticed by the ample payment offered for Titus and "the Scargiver", Kora's nickname in the Imperium.
Noble and his men arrive and start mocking Kora, until Kai assigns Gunnar a horrifying task: to complete the last step of the paralyser by shooting a rod through the back of her neck. At the last moment, he removes it, releases Kora, and shoots Kai in the head, sparking a chaotic, explosive shootout.

The Imperium warship unleashed hellfire on the base, resulting in casualties among Bloodaxe's troops. In a desperate move, he grabs a spear and launches himself onto the ship's window, impaling the pilot before succumbing to their pistol shots. As he falls, he manipulates the aircraft, causing it to crash and separating Kora and Noble from the others. A brutal fight follows, with Kora briefly falling from the side but managing to regain her footing. She grabs the pilot's cane and strikes him, causing him to lose his teeth before falling to his apparent death.
As the rebels celebrate their victory over the Imperium, they are aware that more forces will come in the future. The final scene shows Kora and her team returning home. In the distance, they spot Jimmy (played by Anthony Hopkins) wearing a makeshift crown. This signifies a new role for him, whether as a protector or even a ruler, given his previous purpose as a droid and his affinity for the late princess, as mentioned to Sam (played by Charlotte Maggi).
The movie ended with a shocking revelation: Noble wasn't killed on Gondival but somehow survived, and it seems he may now be augmented or even a cybernetic organism. He is scolded by Regent Balisarius for not quashing the insurgency and is ordered to return to work and crush the rebellion. Balisarius also reveals his plan to crucify Kora in the shadow of the senate. As Noble's mind returns to his body, he screams awake, and the credits roll.
