Rumors suggest that Matthew Broderick and Danny DeVito may be reprising their roles for Deck the Halls 2, the sequel to their popular Christmas movie. The potential release is said to be on Disney Plus in December 2023. The original film was released in 2006 and follows Steve, played by Broderick, a Christmas enthusiast who becomes irritated by his new neighbor Buddy, played by DeVito, and his over-the-top holiday decorations.
Even though it has become a holiday favorite for many people, the movie was a commercial failure when it was first released. It received low scores from critics and audiences, and did not make much money compared to its production budget. Despite this, the anticipation for a sequel suggests that it has overcome its initial failure. But is a sequel to Deck the Halls in the works?
Is Deck the Halls 2 coming to Disney Plus?
No, Deck the Halls 2 isn’t happening, nor is any sequel in development.
Right now, Facebook is filled with misleading news. Last week there was buzz about John Krasinski leading a Die Hard remake, a fake poster for a Polar Express sequel, and rumors of Macaulay Culkin reprising his role as Kevin McCallister for a Home Alone sequel. A poster claiming that Deck the Halls 2 is coming to Disney Plus next month has gained thousands of shares and comments, but it's all fake.

As a fan of the original Deck the Halls movie, I was excited to hear the rumors about a potential sequel. I loved the chemistry between Matthew Broderick and Danny DeVito in the first film, and I thought the premise of two neighbors competing to have the best Christmas decorations was hilarious. I was also curious to see how the story would continue, as the first movie ended with Steve and Buddy becoming friends.
However, I was disappointed to learn that the rumors about Deck the Halls 2 are false. I think it's a shame that we won't get to see a sequel to this beloved Christmas movie. I understand that the original film was not a commercial success, but I think it has gained a cult following in the years since its release. I hope that one day, Disney Plus will reconsider and decide to make Deck the Halls 2.
