Constantine 2 has received an exciting update, bringing good news for fans of the DC movie. Director Francis Lawrence revealed on BroBible's Post Credit Podcast that Keanu Reeves is confirmed to reprise his role as John Constantine in the highly anticipated upcoming film.
Lawrence: Those dark DC characters, specifically the Vertigo characters, have been moving around quite a bit, and we have made attempts to take control. Fortunately, we have succeeded in doing so. Keanu, Akiva Goldsman, and I, who originally collaborated on the film, are currently brainstorming concepts. However, our progress was temporarily halted due to the strike. Nevertheless, we are actively generating ideas for the creation of a sequel, which will undoubtedly have a strong R rating.
Interviewer: Does this discussion involve James Gunn and Peter Safran at DC Films?
Lawrence: This project involves Akiva, Keanu, and me. While I can't reveal too many details, I can say that we won't be portraying the events immediately following the last Constantine. Instead, we'll be depicting an older iteration of John Constantine.
Editor's P/S
I am thrilled to hear that Constantine 2 is finally moving forward, and that it will be an R-rated film. The original Constantine movie was one of my favorites, and I've been eagerly awaiting a sequel for years. I'm confident that Francis Lawrence and Keanu Reeves will deliver a dark and gritty film that will do justice to the character.
I'm also intrigued by the idea of seeing an older John Constantine. In the original movie, Constantine was a young man who was just starting to come to terms with his powers. Now, he's an older and more experienced man who has seen a lot of things. I'm excited to see how this older Constantine will handle the challenges that come his way.
