Season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen covered the first 67 chapters of the manga, ending with the conclusion of the Death Painting Arc. Season 2 animated Gojo's Past Arc and the Shibuya Arc, encompassing up to chapter 137. For those eager to continue the story, they can pick up from chapter 138.

Chapter 137, like the episode, shows Yuta Okkotsu's return after his travels. With the Jujutsu world in chaos, he has been assigned by the higher-ups to carry out Yuji's reinstated death sentence. Viewers can look forward to the Itadori's Extermination Arc when season 3 premieres.

What happened at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2

Season 2 ended on a high note, meeting fans' expectations. Yuji Itadori, Noritoshi Kamo, Yuki Tsukumo, Momo Nishimiya, Choso, Panda, and Atsuya Kusakabe fought against Kenjaku and Uraume to reclaim the Prison Realm, but their efforts were in vain.

The pair managed to fend off the sorcerers as Kenjaku activated his newly acquired Idle Transfiguration. Prior to this, he had marked several non-sorcerers; some had their brains rewired to give them Cursed Techniques, while others' bodies were strengthened to bear Cursed objects, leaving them in a comatose state.

They emerged from their unconscious state upon activation. Simultaneously, Kenjaku unleashed numerous Curses in front of the sorcerers, causing chaos. The sorcerers successfully withdrew and regrouped temporarily. Yuta Okkotsu reappeared and was assigned specific responsibilities, as previously mentioned.

Given the circumstances, the decision from the higher-ups is as follows: Geto will be given another death sentence, Gojo is considered an accomplice in Shibuya and has been exiled, with his release being deemed a crime. Masamichi Yaga has been sentenced to death for inciting Gojo and Geto, Yuji Itadori's sentence has been reinstated, and finally, Yuta Okkotsu is tasked with executing Yuji.

What to expect next

Fans can look forward to a thrilling showdown between Yuji and the executioner, Yuta Okkotsu. But there's a surprising twist in store, which will only be unveiled in the manga or in season 3.

At present, there have been few announcements about the coverage of Jujutsu Kaisen season 3. However, it is expected that the season will include the Perfect Preparation Arc and the Culling Game arc in addition to Itadori's Extermination Arc. Season 3 may also introduce the eagerly anticipated character, Kinji Hakari, also known as the "Restless Gambler."
