Colin Jost Playfully Responds to Michael Che’s Roast on Scarlett Johansson Movies: ‘Just Joking, Darling’
Colin Jost playfully teases his wife Scarlett Johansson's Marvel movie roles on 'Saturday Night Live', adding a humorous twist to the show's latest episode
’Tis the season for Colin Jost and Michael Che’s annual Saturday Night Live “joke swap” — and this year, Scarlett Johansson was caught in the crossfire.
During the "Weekend Update" segment on the December 16 episode, Jost, 41, expressed his excitement about being able to enjoy his wife's independent films now that New York state allows movie theaters to serve alcohol. As a picture of Johansson, 39, in Black Widow flashed on screen, Jost briefly closed his eyes and shook his head before continuing with the joke. Jost has been married to Johansson since 2020.
"Come on, honey, I'm just teasing," he insisted. "I genuinely admire all of your films. In fact, I'd say you make an even more captivating Black Widow than Coretta Scott King."
Jost then slumped forward, resting his head in his hands as he sat beside an unimpressed special guest, portraying a character named Hattie Davis. (Davis was a fictional civil rights activist, who Che, 40, had brought in for his part in the comedic exchange to show disapproval of Jost's remarks.)

Since the 40th season in 2014, Jost and Che have been in charge of “Weekend Update.” They take turns exchanging live on-air jokes to celebrate the holiday season, with no knowledge of what the other has prepared. These jokes have caused discomfort for Johansson.
“I rarely watch [SNL] without feeling a slight underwhelming panic, not overwhelming panic, because I always feel like something could fall apart at any moment,” Johansson shared during a July 2021 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show. “That’s the thrill of SNL for all audiences, isn’t it? It’s completely live.”
Johansson continued: “But when you’re emotionally invested in it, rather than just entertained by it, it takes on a slightly different significance.”
The actress crossed paths with Jost during her hosting of an episode of SNL just before they embarked on a romantic relationship in 2017. Fast forward two years, and Jost popped the question before they tied the knot in 2020. The couple then joyfully welcomed their son, Cosmo, in August 2021.
