Jason Beghe, who plays Hank Voight on Chicago P.D., is open to the idea of officiating Adam Ruzek and Kim Burgess' wedding, even though he hasn't been asked to do so.

During an exclusive interview with We on Wednesday, March 13, the 64-year-old actor teased that it would be unlikely for Voight to officiate the wedding. He found the idea of the head of the Intelligence Unit marrying his coworkers Ruzek (played by Patrick John Flueger) and Burgess (played by Marina Squerciati), also known as "Burzek" by fans, to be quite humorous.

Beghe paused for a moment before continuing, "When I picture that scene, there are endless possibilities for fun and excitement."

The actor, known for his role as the tough cop since the show started in 2014, shared his thoughts, "Voight could react in different ways - he could be shy, overly professional, or even find himself in tears from shock."

Beghe mentioned that there are many possibilities if Voight officiates, especially since the character is exploring his identity in season 11. He finds this development exciting.

Ruzek and Burgess got engaged for the third time this season, but Beghe is uncertain if fans will witness their wedding.

"I'm not interested in that," he admitted to Us. He emphasized that his focus on the show is creating realistic police storylines.

Beghe humorously remarked, "We're not doing soap opera stuff here. This is a police show." He expressed his preference for any wedding scenes to be portrayed from a law enforcement perspective, highlighting its impact on Chicago police officers.

Several cast members have pondered about what a Burzek wedding would be like, although its fate remains uncertain.

"I imagine they would ask Voight to officiate the wedding, enjoy some snacks, and then simply continue being together without making a big deal out of it," Squerciati, 39, shared exclusively with Us in March 2022, prior to the characters' official re-engagement.

"They would do something unconventional or something. I just feel like they’re best friends. They’re kind of married already, but right now it’s not working out," she explained.

Burgess and Ruzek have faced numerous challenges on P.D., such as two broken engagements and the tragic loss of their unborn child. Despite these hardships, they entered season 11 stronger than ever. LaRoyce Hawkins, who portrays Kevin Atwater, expressed his full support for their happily ever after.

Did you know that I am actually certified to officiate weddings? I have had the honor of marrying a few couples within my family.

I have a special bond with Burgess and Ruzek, considering them as family. I believe that Atwater should have the first opportunity to marry them. It's something we all look forward to seeing.

Beghe mentioned that he is pleased with viewers getting a glimpse of a more personal side to Voight and his team this season. He emphasized the importance of showcasing Burgess and Ruzek's potential marriage from a law enforcement perspective.

According to Beghe, the focus should not just be on the romantic aspect of a character getting married, but rather on how it impacts their work as police officers. He stressed that any wedding or related events should be portrayed in relation to their job and how their job influences their personal life.

Chicago P.D. returns to NBC Wednesday, March 20, at 10 p.m. ET.
