Cher Mocks Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Snub: 'They Can Do It Themselves'
Cher dismisses Rock and Roll Hall of Fame snub, delivering a defiant message by stating they can go you-know-what themselves

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame appears uninterested in adding Cher to their ranks, but the feeling is mutual.
"I wouldn't even be in it now if they paid me a million dollars," Cher, 77, declared during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Friday, December 15. "I'm not joking. I was about to say something else. I was about to say I'm not kidding."
Host Kelly Clarkson inquired whether Cher would ever reconsider if she was asked to join the Hall of Fame, but the "Believe" singer stood strong in her resolve. "I'm never going to change my mind," she stated. "They can just go you-know-what themselves."
Clarkson, 41, expressed surprise at the news that Cher is not in the Hall of Fame, despite her numerous career achievements. The Oscar winner made history by becoming the first female artist to achieve a No. 1 hit for seven consecutive decades with "DJ Play a Christmas Song."
The Rolling Stones share the honor with Cher, but she points out that they are a whole band. "It took four of them to be one of me," she quipped. "Also, can I just say one other thing? I changed music forever with ‘Believe’.”
"Believe," which won Cher a Grammy Award and is still the highest-selling single ever by a solo female artist, turned 25 in October. The song remains famous for its pioneering use of Auto-Tune, which has since become a mainstay of pop music. Last month, Cher joked that she wasn’t happy at all to learn how old the smash hit was.

"Can you believe 'Believe' is 25 years old?" Today anchor Harry Smith asked her during a November interview.
"It's not that unbelievable, okay?" she replied. "It really bothers me. You can't say that! It's just like, 'What is this?'"
Smith, 72, inquired if Cher is comfortable with aging, to which she responded that she is not.
"No! My mother didn't have a problem with it, but I do. I hate it," she stated. "I would do anything to be 70 again."

Cher recently announced her intention to pen a memoir chronicling her extensive career spanning decades. However, she admitted on Today that the sheer breadth of her experiences has made the writing process quite challenging. "I've lived too long and I've done too many things," she humorously remarked. "It would have to be like an encyclopedia, truthfully."
