Chelsea have finalized the signing of Manchester City winger Cole Palmer on Transfer Deadline Day. The initial payment will amount to £40m, with an additional £2.5m in possible add-ons. This brings the total expenditure at Chelsea under the ownership of Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital to a staggering £1.02bn.

Their spending this summer alone will reach £419m, surpassing the £412m spent by Mauricio Pochettino's former club, Tottenham, in over five years and 11 transfer windows. Palmer, who has signed a seven-year contract with the option of an additional year, will join the Chelsea squad prior to their Premier League match against Nottingham Forest at home on Saturday.
