Celtic's assistant manager, John Kennedy, confesses that the return of Brendan Rodgers was sufficient to dissuade him from accompanying Ange Postecoglou to Tottenham. Despite Postecoglou's eagerness to bring Kennedy along to North London following his departure from the Scottish champions in May to assume the managerial role at Spurs.
Kennedy has played a vital part over the last nine years in Celtic's incredible trophy success and dominance of Scottish football.

The former Celtic defender, who was also Celtic caretaker boss in 2021 following Neil Lennon's departure, told We News why he decided to stay in Glasgow.
"I have experienced several instances where managers have changed, and it has always been accompanied by a sense of uncertainty. The future becomes unpredictable, and you're left unaware of potential discussions the club might be having with other individuals," Kennedy, who served as a first-team coach during Rodgers' initial tenure, shared.
"During my frequent interactions with Ange, various possibilities arose; nonetheless, Brendan's return to Celtic meant that both the club and Brendan himself desired for me to remain and contribute to our future together."
Being a member of this club is a tremendous privilege. I am fully aware of the values and dynamics that define this place. I have developed a deep understanding and familiarity with both the players and Brendan. This played a major role in my decision to stay and remain involved in this team.
I am well aware of Brendan's work ethic and the high standard he maintains. It is incredibly satisfying to continue being a part of this journey.

John Kennedy declined the opportunity to join Postecoglou at Spurs. In the meantime, Postecoglou has appointed Chris Davies, formerly Rodgers' assistant at Celtic, as his new second-in-command. He has also brought in Mile Jedinak, a former player for Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.
The ex-Hoops player, whose 10-year stint was curtailed by a severe knee injury, affirms that his "fantastic relationship" with the Australian coach will endure, as he predicts his success in the Premier League. "I gained valuable knowledge from him. His approach differs from Brendan's, yet he achieves great results and remains exceptionally modest," he further expressed.
I have stayed in contact and been keeping up with how things are progressing for both teams during the pre-season.
I am confident that he will excel in his new position because he is an exceptional manager who has a clear vision. The fans and the club will soon become familiar with his approach and witness a significant transformation in the team.
