'Bridgerton' Season 3 Teaser Teases Colin and Penelope's Fate Amid Lady Whistledown's Revelation

The teaser for the upcoming episodes of Bridgerton has left some fans worried about the future of Colin and Penelope's relationship.

Netflix unveiled the sneak peek on Monday, June 3, hinting that Colin might discover Penelope's true identity as Lady Whistledown. Despite Colin's heartfelt proposal in the first part, it seems like their happiness might be short-lived as Penelope struggles to keep her biggest secret from him.

"I've always had feelings for you, Colin," Penelope confesses as they dance together. "There's nothing that brings me more joy than being by your side."

Penelope's secret life begins to come to light when Colin's sister Eloise (played by Claudia Jessie) encourages her to be truthful with him. Colin also starts to notice something is amiss when he notices the ink on Penelope's hands.

Later in the trailer, Penelope and Colin appear at odds. “Colin, I can take care of myself,” she tells him, to which Colin responds, “Then what good am I to you?”

Fans of Julia Quinn's Bridgerton book series will recognize Colin and Penelope's love story, as seen in Romancing Mr. Bridgerton. Despite facing challenges on screen, Colin and Penelope's bond prevails. The season 3 trailer not only hints at the issues in their relationship but also offers a sneak peek at their passionate love scenes.

In the video, fans were delighted to see the mirror scene featuring Colin and Penelope, hinting at the development of their relationship. The excitement had been growing ever since Coughlan, aged 37, hinted at the romance and intimate moments that would unfold throughout the season.

Coughlan shared, "Luke and I read the books before season 1, and we found it amusing. We joked about the possibility of having to kiss and act out certain scenes." She further explained in an interview with Entertainment Tonight in June 2023, "By season 3, we were like, 'Oh boy.' It's challenging to kiss a friend on screen. You can't fake it; you have to really commit to the scene. It's quite intense, with many elements from the books that fans love making their way into the show."

Coughlan praised Newton, 31, for the way he made her feel “really taken care of” while filming specific moments.

"We were always there to support each other, and we could also find humor in the situation. There were times when we would just relax under a blanket and joke around, saying 'I should chill now,'" Coughlan shared with AP Entertainment in February. Newton chimed in, "Yeah, halfway through the day, you just let go and think, 'I don't really care if I'm naked.'"

Coughlan shared more insights during an interview with Teen Vogue in April. She mentioned how funny it was and how it showed their comfort level after filming a big and intense sex scene. It was a moment of relief for them.

The first half of Bridgerton season 3 is now available for streaming on Netflix. The rest of the episodes will be released on Thursday, June 13th.
