During her headlining performance at Lollapalooza on Thursday, August 3, Billie Eilish paid tribute to the late Angus Cloud. The 21-year-old singer performed her collaboration with Euphoria composer Labrinth, titled "Never Felt So Alone," towards the end of her set at Grant Park in Chicago. After concluding the song, she addressed the crowd, saying, "RIP, Angus Cloud, everybody."
Eilish paid tribute to Cloud the day after fans in Oakland, California held a candlelight vigil. Around 50 people gathered near a new mural created by local artist Darin Balaban to honor the late Euphoria actor on Wednesday, August 2. Mourners brought flowers and photos of Cloud to place at the base of the mural, while some also brought liquor and Guinness beer. The group shared memories and sang songs, including Ben E. King's "Stand by Me," to remember Cloud.
Cloud passed away on Monday, July 31, at the age of 25, just one week after his father, Conor Hickey, was laid to rest in Ireland. In a statement, Cloud's family expressed their profound sadness at saying goodbye to an extraordinary individual. Whether as an artist, a friend, a sibling, or a son, Angus held a special place in all of our hearts. Last week, he experienced immense grief from burying his father and struggled deeply with this loss. The only solace we find is knowing that Angus and his father, who was his closest confidant, are now reunited.
The specific cause of Cloud's death has not been disclosed, but his loved ones acknowledged that he had been open about his struggle with mental health prior to his passing. They hope that his passing will serve as a reminder to others that they are not alone and that they should not suffer silently.
Cloud's mother contacted emergency services on Monday, reporting a potential drug overdose before her son's untimely death. The Oakland Police Department promptly responded to the distress call around 11:30 a.m. PT, as Cloud's mother expressed concern about not being able to detect a pulse in her son. Tragically, first responders later confirmed Cloud's passing at the scene.
Following Cloud's passing, tributes have been pouring in from his colleagues on the set of Euphoria, with Zendaya, Maude Apatow, and Sydney Sweeney expressing their condolences. Via Instagram on Tuesday, August 1, Zendaya wrote, "Words cannot adequately convey the indescribable beauty that Angus (Conor) possessed. I am immensely grateful to have had the opportunity to know him in this lifetime, to consider him a brother, to witness his warm, kind eyes and bright smile, and to hear his contagious laughter in person (just the thought of it brings a smile to my face)."
25-year-old Apatow paid tribute to Cloud on Wednesday, August 2, declaring him "the funniest person ever" in a heartfelt post on social media. Taking to Instagram, she expressed, "He had the most endearing personality and brought so much joy to those around him. Simply put, he was exceptional. There are no words to truly convey the captivating essence of his being. My heart aches deeply."
