Two assailants conducted a bombing outside the Interior Ministry building in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, just before the start of Parliament on Sunday, according to authorities.
In a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported that two police officers sustained injuries during the attack.
At approximately 9:30 a.m. local time, Yerlikaya, the assailants arrived at the building's entrance in a light commercial vehicle. One of them detonated himself, while the other was apprehended. The explosion caused minor damage to the guard tower positioned in front of the entrance. The police have cordoned off the area and a bomb squad, as seen in CNN Turk's footage, is conducting a thorough search for any additional suspicious packages.

Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc said that an investigation has been launched into the incident.
"These attacks will not impede Turkey's ongoing battle against terrorism," stated Tunc during an interview on X. "We will persist with even greater determination in our fight against terrorism."
The explosion occurred shortly before legislators are scheduled to resume their work at 2 p.m. following the summer recess.
