Bethesda Game Studios, renowned for the beloved games Skyrim and Fallout 4, has exceeded expectations with their latest creation: Starfield. This upcoming sci-fi role-playing game interweaves elements of space opera, first-contact, cyberpunk, and cosmic horror, offering players an unprecedented gaming experience amidst the vastness of the cosmos.

Will Starfield Be On PS5
Fans of Sony's gaming consoles may have initially assumed that Starfield would be available on both PlayStation and Xbox consoles, just like Bethesda's previous franchises, the Elder Scrolls and Fallout. However, that is not the case this time. Starfield will only be released on Xbox Series X | S and PC, as confirmed by Aaron Greenberg. The official Starfield gameplay reveal trailer has also confirmed these platforms, along with Cloud, Xbox Game Pass, PC, and Steam.
Why Is Starfield Not Available on PS5?
Undoubtedly, it is undeniably disappointing that a highly anticipated and extraordinary game like Starfield is not accessible on all gaming platforms. Initially, there were reports stating that Starfield was being developed for PS5 as well, but following Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda, Starfield became an exclusive title for Xbox.
In 2021, Microsoft acquired ZeniMedia, the parent company of Bethesda, for $7.5 billion, transforming it into a subsidiary of Xbox Game Studios. Consequently, all future releases from ZeniMedia and Bethesda will be exclusively available on Xbox gaming consoles.
However, Xbox boss Phil Spencer revealed during an FTC hearing on the Microsoft-Activision deal that Sony had potentially intended to make Starfield exclusive to PlayStation. Microsoft's acquisition of ZeniMax thwarted any possibility of a PS5 or PS4 release for Starfield.
Despite this, there remains a slight possibility that Starfield may eventually become compatible with the PS5. However, it is important to note that there is currently no evidence to support this notion. The release of Starfield is scheduled for September 6, 2023, and early access will commence on September 1, 2023, exclusively for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
