A Plague Tale: Requiem serves as the sequel to the emotionally impactful A Plague Tale: Innocence. The game follows the journey of a young girl named Amica and her brother Hugo as they escape from soldiers in the 1300s French countryside. In addition to evading pursuers, they must also navigate through swarms of plague rats, which can prove to be both a threat and a useful resource in certain situations.

Requiem continues the story six months after the events of Innocence, immersing Amica and Hugo in a new web of medieval and supernatural mysteries. This time, the game features an even larger swarm of rats—while the first game could display about 5,000 rats on screen at once, the sequel ramps the number up to 300,000. "Despite the occasional frustration in gameplay, there's much to appreciate in Requiem," noted Richard Wakeling in Our Website's review. "While there are better stealth games available, the unique setting, compelling storytelling, and pervasive sense of rat-infested dread make 14th-century France a setting worth revisiting."

Evil West also takes a supernatural approach to a historical action game. The third-person shooter thrusts players into a vampire-infested Old West, blending traditional lever-action rifles and six-shooters with steampunk-inspired weaponry and formidable metal claws. Developed by Flying Wild Hog, best known for Hard Reset and the Shadow Warrior games.
