Overwatch 2 issued a statement addressing the controversy surrounding the Moira Lilith skin, stating that they have taken note of the incident and will strive to offer additional methods for players to acquire highly sought-after skins like it in the future.
During the seventh season of Overwatch 2, titled Rise of Darkness, numerous new Halloween-themed cosmetics were introduced, including crossover skins from Diablo 4. Nevertheless, numerous players of Overwatch 2 expressed their dissatisfaction upon discovering that the Lilith Moira and Inarius Pharah skins, which were among the most coveted during the season, could only be obtained by purchasing the $40 Ultimate Battle Pass bundle and were not available through any other means.
In a recent discussion, Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller addressed the controversy surrounding Season 7. Towards the end of the conversation, he acknowledged the community's frustration and confirmed that the decision to include the skins in the Ultimate Battle Pass bundle was deliberate. However, he assured the players that the team would implement alternative methods for obtaining sought-after Overwatch 2 skins like Inarius Pharah and Lilith Moira in the future.
Keller addressed the controversy surrounding Lilith Moira's skin in Overwatch 2. Some players expressed disappointment as it was only available in the Ultimate Battle Pass bundle, the highest-priced bundle. While the Ultimate Battle Pass with legendary skins will still be offered each season, Keller acknowledged the need for more accessible options to obtain popular skins.
Interestingly, Lilith Moira is available for individual purchase in countries like Brazil, where it is illegal to exclusively sell items in a bundle. While there is no such law in the United States, it is possible that Overwatch 2 may start selling similar high-value skins separately to prevent potential backlash. However, it seems that the intention is to continue including Legendary skins in the Ultimate Battle Pass bundle, so players will need to wait and see what Overwatch 2 does in its future seasons to be certain.
In the same blog post, Keller also revealed that Overwatch 2 is actively considering changes to the Battle Pass and has made it a top priority. The team has been working on a fresh approach to the Overwatch 2 Battle Pass, and players can expect to hear more about it early next year.
Due to BlizzCon taking place this week, Overwatch 2 will not be releasing its next bi-weekly Developer's Take blog post. The highly anticipated convention will showcase various updates to the competitive mode and unveil the new tank hero in Overwatch 2. Fans can look forward to the next blog post, which will be shared two weeks after BlizzCon, and will provide more information about the convention's announcements as well as the upcoming Roadhog rework in Overwatch 2. Currently, Overwatch 2 can be enjoyed on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
