The release of the Hero Mastery mode for Overwatch 2 has been postponed to the mid-season patch in September. According to the development team at Blizzard, this delay is aimed at providing players with the best possible experience when the new mode is launched.
Since the cancellation of the PvE mode in Overwatch 2, the game has faced significant criticism. The PvE mode was downsized and reimagined as paid content, set to make its debut in the upcoming Season commencing in August 2023. Along with the PvE missions, the Hero Mastery mode was also promised, allowing players to test their skills with specific heroes. Initially, this mode was seen as a potential solution to Overwatch 2's well-known queue time issues. It was expected to promote hero diversity and give players the opportunity to practice with different classes to earn rewards.
Unfortunately, the original plan has been altered. Blizzard recently released a new blog post providing insights into the current status of Overwatch 2 and its upcoming PvE Missions. According to the blog, the game's Story Missions are now scheduled to be launched during the advent of the game's 6th Season. However, the blog also mentioned that the release of Hero Mastery has been postponed for an additional month and is now set to be launched in September.
Overwatch 2 will continue as planned for the remainder of Season 6, offering the Invasion story missions that can be played by groups of four players. These missions can be enjoyed at any time after purchasing either the $15 or $40 bundles. The $15 bundle includes 1,000 Overwatch coins and a Legendary skin for Sojourn. On the other hand, the $40 bundle includes the coin bundle, Legendary skins for Cassidy and Kiriko, and The Null Sector Premium Battle Pass with 20 Tier skips. To access the PvE content during Season 6, which starts on August 10, all players will need to purchase the Overwatch 2 Invasion Bundle.
Overwatch 2 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
