According to a recent report, Nvidia will not release the RTX 4090 Ti, disappointingly breaking the usual pattern of upgrading their top-tier card. Currently, the 40 series only offers 'Ti' models for the RTX 4060 and RTX 4070. Last September, Nvidia introduced the initial 40 series, which included the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090. While these GPUs were available for purchase in November, Nvidia has since released several other options for the mid-tier market. In January, they launched the RTX 4070 Ti with 12GB VRAM, followed by the RTX 4070 in April. In May, the RTX 4060 and 4060 Ti with 8GB VRAM were announced, with the RTX 4060 Ti becoming available that same month. The most recent additions to the lineup are the RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti 16GB, released in July.

It was anticipated that Nvidia would release an upgraded version of its flagship RTX 4090, known as the 'Ti' variant, in September. This speculation was fueled by the fact that the RTX 4090 does not fully utilize the potential of the AD106 silicon it is based on. With 18,432 CUDA cores available on the chip, the RTX 4090 only utilizes 16,384 cores. This led enthusiasts to believe that an RTX 4090 Ti would be released this September. However, recent reports from a reputable source indicate that there will not be an RTX 4090 Ti.
The tipster mentioned that there will be different versions of the RTX 4070 and 4060 SKUs, which are based on the AD103 and AD106 chips. Both SKUs already have 'Ti' models, and the RT 4060 even has 8GB and 16GB variants with the 'Ti' designation. However, the difference in performance does not justify the $100 price difference. It is possible that these new modified GPUs will be launched regionally and exclusively in China.
In another tweet, the same tipster revealed that Nvidia's next flagship GPU will have a 512-bit memory interface. The company has not utilized a 512-bit memory bus since the GTX 280 and GTX 285 in 2008 and 2009. This change, coupled with the expected GDDR7 VRAM, could potentially double the performance of the already exceptionally powerful RTX 4090. To provide some context, a 512-bit bus enables a maximum throughput of 2TBPS, whereas the current configuration of the RTX 4090 features a 384-bit bus with a maximum throughput of 1008 Gbps.
Looking at Nvidia’s current 40 series GPU lineup, we can observe that the company offers the baseline RTX4060 for $299, which can be found at a lower price from certain board partners. Following that, we have the RTX 4060 Ti with 8GB VRAM priced at $399, and the 16GB variant priced at $499. Moving up the ladder, we find the RTX 4070 launching at $599, and the RTX 4070 Ti launching at $799. Lastly, the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 hit the market with price tags of $1199 and $1599 respectively. Notably, there is a noticeable gap between the RTX 4070 and its 'Ti' variant as well as between the 'Ti' variant and the RTX 4080. Could Nvidia be aiming to fill these price points with modified versions of the RT 4060 and RTX 4070? Only time will reveal the answer.
