Despite the console release of Air Twister being more than a month away, Yu Suzuki and his team have already embarked on a new game. This revelation came to light during a recent interview with IGN Japan, conducted by the influential Japanese developer. However, fans of Suzuki's work will have to exercise patience as further details about the project are yet to be disclosed.
The interview in question occurred at this year's Tokyo Game Show, where Suzuki made an appearance to promote the console version of his Apple Arcade game, Air Twister. In addition to taking the stage at Konami to discuss the impending release, Suzuki participated in a special livestream with IGN Japan. It was during this livestream that he announced the ongoing development of a new game at YS NET.
Fans of the Shenmue franchise have been eagerly anticipating a sequel, but there is no indication that Suzuki and his team are currently working on one. In an interview, Suzuki expressed his desire to complete Ryo's story but mentioned that he is waiting for the right opportunity. It is unlikely that Shenmue 4 would be announced during an interview for another game, so it remains uncertain. It is possible that fans will have to wait for more information, possibly for at least another month until the console release of Air Twister.
Set to release on November 10, Air Twister will be available on both current and past-gen consoles. The game was showcased at this year's TGS, sparking considerable interest among attendees. With its user-friendly gameplay, it caters to a wide audience, especially enthusiasts of Suzuki's revered arcade classics. As a spiritual successor to the iconic 1985's Space Harrier, Air Twister pays homage to its predecessor while bringing a fresh experience to the gaming community.
Keeping this in mind, it is likely that Suzuki's upcoming game will draw inspiration from his previous works. Games such as OutRun, Hang On, and After Burner, which were groundbreaking in their time, continue to have a dedicated following and are worth rediscovering. During an interview with IGN Japan, Suzuki even expressed his desire to bundle some of these classic arcade games together, providing fans with the opportunity to relive their nostalgic experiences. Additionally, alongside this exciting prospect, Suzuki and his team are currently working on a new project, giving fans even more to anticipate.
While Air Twister is currently available on Apple Arcade, versions for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S are set to be released on November 10.
