Groundbreaking Call of Duty 2023 Update Will Blow Your Mind

Prepare for an epic comeback! Activision's latest teaser hints at a sensational return in Call of Duty 2023, reviving a beloved gameplay feature that fans have been eagerly anticipating

Highlights

The 2023 Call of Duty will bring back slide canceling in its original form, allowing skilled players to move faster and be harder to hit.

The next game is probably going to be a remake of Modern Warfare 3 and will take place in Al Mazrah, as hinted in a teaser sent to well-known content creators.

Although slide canceling was restricted in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 remake, the upcoming game is anticipated to have the original version of the technique, enhancing player mobility.

The upcoming 2023 Call of Duty game is set to feature the return of slide canceling in its original form, as confirmed by a recent teaser from Activision. The company has been dropping hints about the next installment in the popular FPS franchise, with the official reveal scheduled for later this week.

Slide canceling was first introduced in the 2019 Modern Warfare remake, originally not intended as a gameplay mechanic but quickly adopted by skilled Call of Duty players. The technique involves canceling the sliding animation by quickly double-tapping the Aim Down Sights (ADS) button and immediately attempting a jump. Skilled players strategically used slide canceling to move faster and more unpredictably, making themselves harder to hit. While there were rumors that the mechanic would be removed in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 remake, it was ultimately limited in its applications by Infinity Ward.

The upcoming release of Call of Duty, expected to be a remake of Modern Warfare 3, will reportedly reverse a previous decision. Activision seems to have confirmed this in a recent teaser shared with popular content creators. This information was initially revealed by Swagg, a Call of Duty streamer from FaZe Clan, who received a package from Activision containing slides, a can, and a cell phone. The peculiar items in the package seem to hint at a rebus puzzle spelling out "slide(s) cancel."

Later, the cell phone in the package received a text stating that players will need to be more agile in Al Mazrah, the setting of the Modern Warfare 2 remake and the main battleground in Warzone, which is expected to be included in the new game's multiplayer modes. This message further supports the theory that the 2023 Call of Duty will reintroduce the original slide canceling feature, allowing players to have significantly increased mobility.

The slide canceling mechanics in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 remake and Warzone were similar to the original technique, but there was a significant divergence. Unlike the original, attempting to perform the trick during a tactical sprint would trigger a "dolphin dive" animation. Over time, fans did come up with a few alternative ways to cancel the sliding animation more smoothly. However, neither method was as simple to execute as the original glitch, and one even necessitated disabling certain in-game control assists, such as the automatic grounded mantle setting.
