Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has officially announced the release date for its fifth DLC, which will bring the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament to life. Originally launched in 2020, the game allowed fans to relive the entire saga of Dragon Ball Z in an action-packed RPG format, offering players the chance to freely explore the vast Dragon World and engage in battles against a variety of foes. While the main game focused on the events of the DBZ era, Bandai Namco has been expanding the experience with DLC that delves into content beyond that timeframe. The upcoming fifth DLC pack revisits the past, specifically the final arc before Dragon Ball transitioned into Dragon Ball Z: the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament.
This DLC will immerse players in the thrilling battles that occur during the World Martial Arts Tournament, including the epic showdown between Son Goku and the reincarnation of Demon King Piccolo. Acting as a prequel to DBZ: Kakarot, this expansion will showcase pivotal moments such as Goku's transformation from a young child to a courageous young man. The release date for this highly anticipated DLC has been unveiled, promising fans the opportunity to embark on this adventure very soon.
Bandai Namco has announced the global release date of August 17 for the upcoming DLC of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Alongside this exciting news, they unveiled a teaser art piece showcasing the epic final showdown between Goku and Majunior. The artwork also presents a glimpse of the younger version of adult Goku, portraying him as slimmer and without the muscular physique he would later develop.
In addition to the captivating visuals, the tournament DLC will introduce unique gameplay mechanics. Players will have the opportunity to engage in battles with Goku through a special Ground Battle mode. In this mode, fighters will face the challenge of getting up before the count of ten if knocked down, or risk being instantly defeated by getting knocked out of the arena. Furthermore, the DLC will not only allow players to control Goku, but also feature the playable character of Tien in the World Tournament DLC.
In terms of future DLC for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, there is currently no clear direction. Leaked plans suggest that it may explore the "Peaceful World" Saga, which takes place after the Buu Saga and covers the events during the timeskip. While this arc may not be as climactic as previous ones, it would be a fitting continuation after the focus on the 23rd World Martial Arts tournament DLC. Fans will have to wait for further updates regarding this matter.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
