Breaking News: David De Gea's Shocking Departure Shakes Man Utd Fans – Contract Dispute Leads to Sudden Exit

David De Gea, the remarkable Spain international goalkeeper, bids farewell to Manchester United after unsuccessful contract negotiations With a record-breaking 545 appearances and numerous accolades, including the Premier League Golden Glove, De Gea's departure leaves a void in the club's history

David De Gea has left Manchester United after failing to agree terms on a new contract.

The Spanish goalkeeper leaves Old Trafford as a free agent after 12 seasons at the club.

De Gea announced his departure on social media, penning the following farewell message to all Manchester United fans:

"I wanted to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the supporters of Manchester United. Over the past 12 years, I have been overwhelmed by the love and support I have received. Since joining this club under the guidance of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, we have accomplished so much together."

"I always felt immense pride whenever I donned this shirt. Being entrusted with the responsibility of leading the team, and representing this esteemed institution - the largest club in the world - was a privilege accorded only to a select few fortunate footballers.

"However, the time has come for me to embrace a fresh challenge, to once again test my limits in unfamiliar surroundings.

"It's been an unforgettable and successful period since I came here. I didn't think, from leaving Madrid as a young boy, we would achieve what we did together.

Ten Hag: De Gea one of United's best

Manchester will forever hold a special place in my heart, shaping me into the person I am today. Its influence will always remain within me, as we have experienced all that this remarkable city has to offer.

Erik ten Hag made the decision to keep De Gea as his first-choice goalkeeper upon joining from Ajax last summer. This decision proved to be fruitful, with De Gea earning the prestigious Golden Glove award for recording the highest number of clean sheets in the Premier League last season.

Ten Hag praised the 32-year-old, stating that it requires exceptional skill and perseverance to even play a single game for Manchester United. He further emphasized that accomplishing this feat 545 times over a span of 12 years is a remarkable accomplishment, especially considering the intense scrutiny faced by goalkeepers in every match.

The fact that he has won Player of the Year awards from the fans and his team-mates four times each is a testament to his outstanding performance. He will always be hailed as one of the greatest goalkeepers in the club's history. Personally, I am thankful for his contribution on the pitch throughout my first year at the club, including the impressive 25 clean sheets he helped achieve last season.

All the players and staff extend our sincerest well wishes for the next chapter of his exceptional career.

Bruno Fernandes expressed his admiration for De Gea, stating on Instagram, "You are aware of my thoughts on you and how greatly I will miss you."

You deserved a farewell at the stadium, where all the fans could cheer you on and celebrate the beautiful memories you created.

Your contributions at the club will forever be remembered, ensuring that your name will never be forgotten. This is something that no one can ever diminish or erase from your legacy.

"All the best for what's coming for you and your family."

De Gea joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2011 and went on to make 545 appearances - the most by any goalkeeper in the club's history.

De Gea surpassed Peter Schmeichel's clean sheet record at United last season, leaving Old Trafford with an impressive total of 190 shutouts across various competitions. Throughout his 12-year tenure with United, the Spanish international, who has earned 45 caps, secured five major trophies, notably the Premier League title in 2013 and the Europa League championship in 2017.

Man Utd failed to make formal contract offer to De Gea

United engaged in negotiations with De Gea for an extended period, although it is believed that they did not present any formal contract offers to the goalkeeper.

According to News, De Gea's future was uncertain and both sides were looking into their possibilities.

Both sides have mutually decided that it is the opportune moment to part ways. Ten Hag is in need of a new No 1, prompting United to explore different alternatives. Positive talks are currently taking place with Inter Milan regarding the potential acquisition of Andre Onana.

The price for the Cameroon international is still under negotiation, but United is hopeful as he shows a strong desire to join.

Dean Henderson may also make a comeback to United as the number one goalkeeper after his loan period at Nottingham Forest, although Steve Cooper is keen on bringing him back to the City Ground.

United are also exploring a deal for a No 2 and hold interest in Urawa Red Diamonds' Japanese international Zion Suzuki.

'Ruthless Ten Hag changed his mind on De Gea'

Andy Mitten, the editor of the fanzine 'United We Stand', expressed his surprise over the possibility of his departure when questioned in April. At that time, he firmly believed that he would remain at United.

"But his form at the end of the season was not good so I think the manager's changed his mind on his goalkeeper.

Andre Onana of Inter Milan is a Manchester United target

United have been actively searching for a new goalkeeper to become their number one. Until a few days ago, David's future with the team was uncertain and there was a possibility of him remaining as the backup option.

However, the conclusion has been rather chaotic, as is often the case when players leave United, and it's disheartening that the situation has unfolded in such a manner.

In time, United fans will have a strong affection for him as he holds a record number of games as a goalkeeper, has been named Player of the Year four times, and at times has been the standout player for United.

However, in the previous season, doubts arose about his performance, and it became evident that if Ten Hag had the opportunity to build a team from scratch, he would not have selected De Gea.
