Breaking: Nagorno-Karabakh authorities agree to Russia-brokered ceasefire after intense Azeri military offensive

Nagorno-Karabakh authorities agree to Russia-brokered ceasefire amidst ongoing Azerbaijani attacks, as stated by Armenian news agency Armenpress

The Russian peacekeeping contingent has presented a ceasefire proposal to the authorities in Nagorno-Karabakh, who have accepted it despite ongoing Azerbaijani attacks, as reported by Armenian news agency Armenpress on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Azerbaijan's defense ministry announced the launch of an "anti-terrorist" operation against separatist forces in the region.

The ceasefire terms were not immediately reported.

The Nagorno-Karabakh presidency stated that the analysis of Azeri actions indicates their intention to divide Nagorno-Karabakh and cause irreparable harm to its vitality.

The presidency stated that the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army is significantly outnumbered in their efforts to protect the region from Azeri troops. They expressed regret over the Defense Army's casualties and disclosed that in certain areas, the enemy managed to infiltrate Defense Army outposts, seize various strategic positions, and control important road intersections.

The international community's efforts to end the war and resolve the situation are inadequate in the current circumstances. Considering this, the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh have agreed to the ceasefire proposal put forth by the Russian peacekeeping contingents command, as stated by the Nagorno-Karabakh Presidential Office, according to Armenpress.

According to the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan, a agreement has been reached to halt anti-terrorist actions in Karabakh from 13.00 hours local time on Wednesday, as reported by the official Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
