Brad Pitt is set to showcase his driving abilities in an upcoming Formula 1 biopic, and it hasn't gone unnoticed by the actual racers themselves, as per producer Jerry Bruckheimer. During the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Las Vegas, Bruckheimer shared that the film is going to be thrilling and confirmed Pitt's involvement in the racing scenes. He also mentioned that some preliminary filming has already taken place and they plan to return for more next year.

Admiring Pitt's driving skills, he praised, "He effortlessly handles it all himself. His talent as an athlete amazes the professional drivers."

The filmmaker detailed the temporary halt in filming the racing biopic due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. The strike, initiated in July, was led by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and concluded earlier this month. It followed the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike that took place from May to September. Both strikes aimed to improve labor laws, wages, and AI restrictions for their members by opposing the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).

Bruckheimer shared that his crew managed to capture some footage during their time in Las Vegas for the recent major event, now that the strikes are over. Additionally, he mentioned that the cast will resume shooting in the cars at the start of the new year.

According to Bruckheimer, Pitt's filming will commence in the middle of December. The producer emphasized that the film's focus lies in the drama and characters, describing it as an excellent character study. It delves into the lives of the drivers, the individuals managing the teams, and those surrounding them.

The sports movie does not have an official title, however, it was previously announced that Pitt would be taking on the role of the fictional racer, Sonny Hayes. Sonny is a retired athlete who makes a comeback in F1 racing to mentor a talented young racer named Joshua Pearce, portrayed by Damson Idris.

Before production shutdowns occurred during the summer, Pitt and Idris, aged 32, were observed wearing white racing jumpsuits at the British Grand Prix in July. The duo were seen filming scenes for the movie and engaging in conversations with actual racers while in England.

In the months that followed, Pitt refrained from taking on any new filming endeavors. However, he utilized his time to cultivate a stronger bond with his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon. The two were initially connected in November 2022 when they were witnessed attending a Bono concert in Los Angeles. An exclusive source shared with We that Brad and Ines' relationship is flourishing and, after a year together, they are deeply in love.

Although the Oscar winner and de Ramon, 33, “aren’t jumping into [marriage] just yet,” the insider said they “are going the distance” and focused on the future.
