Richard Gere attended the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival with his wife Alejandra Silva and their eldest son, Homer.
Homer James Jigme Gere, who is 24 years old, accompanied his father on the red carpet for the premiere of Richard's new film Oh, Canada, on Friday, May 17. Both Gere and Homer looked stylish in matching black tuxedos, while Silva looked stunning in a black floor-length gown adorned with pink flowers. The trio was later seen together at the Oh, Canada afterparty, which was hosted by Veuve Clicquot.
Canada, directed by Paul Schrader and starring Gere, Oh, is based on the 2021 novel Foregone by Russell Banks. The story follows a dying writer who has escaped to Canada to avoid being drafted for the Vietnam War.
Gere was previously married to Carey Lowell, with whom he shares a son named Homer. The couple split in 2013. He also has two younger sons, Alexander, 4, and a second child born in 2020 whose name has not been revealed, with Silva, 41. After three years of dating, Gere and Silva secretly tied the knot in 2018.
Gere shared with HOLA! Magazine in April 2018 that he has finally found the peaceful and joyful life he has been looking for. After marrying Silva, he expressed, "I was feeling a bit lost and in the dark, but meeting him brought purpose to my life. It was like someone reaching out and guiding me towards my true path."

Before marrying Silva, Gere emphasized the importance of his family over his career. In a March 2015 interview with the Hindustan Times, Gere shared that he always prioritizes his family, even if it means saying no to certain job opportunities.
"My film decisions are mostly mine, but I always make sure not to be away from my son, Homer James Jigme Gere, for too long," he shared with the outlet. "If I have to be away for an extended period, I discuss it with him first. If there are any concerns, I prioritize my family over the project."
As for Homer, the 24-year-old prefers to stay out of the public eye. In an interview with Vanity Fair Spain in April 2024, originally conducted in Spanish, the Pretty Woman star mentioned that Homer doesn't fully grasp the extent of his father's fame.
"He doesn’t get it," Gere mentioned. "Plus, it's tough for him to watch me on screen because no matter the role I play, I'm still his dad. It's hard for him to separate me from the character." In addition, he shared, "Interestingly, he recently got into acting as well. He's taken a sudden interest and seems to really like it. He's been making his own movies, writing and directing them. So now we have this new shared hobby."
