The indie supergroup boygenius honored the late Irish singer-songwriter Sinéad O'Connor with a charity single released on Friday. Teaming up with Irish folk duo Ye Vagabonds, boygenius recorded a heartfelt rendition of the beloved folk song "The Parting Glass." The proceeds from the single will be donated to the Aisling Project, a Dublin-based charity chosen by O'Connor's estate. In addition to offering after-school activities, the Aisling Project provides support and meals for underprivileged children and young people.

"We are incredibly excited that boygenius has decided to donate the proceeds from the release to the Aisling Project," expressed Project Leader Mícheál Clear in an interview with CNN. "It is a true honor to be affiliated with this exquisitely crafted tribute to Sinéad O'Connor, and we are immeasurably grateful to boygenius."

Phoebe Bridgers, a member of boygenius along with Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, has openly praised O'Connor, stating to Rolling Stone in August that she truly exemplified the essence of being a musician and taking a stand for something.

Following her passing, O'Connor's remarkable vocal talents and exceptional songwriting skills have been cherished, along with her bravery in protesting against the Catholic Church. This courageous act had adverse effects on her career, until the institution eventually apologized for the sexual abuse inflicted by certain clergy members, particularly targeting children.

Like the recently Grammy-nominated boygenius, OConnor also sang a version of "The Parting Glass" as a track on her 2002 album "Sean-Nós Nua."
