Continuing his journey as a private investigator in Los Angeles, the former LAPD detective fights crime without the constraints of his previous role. With his portrayal of Harry Bosch spanning almost a decade, Titus Welliver has captured audiences' attention as the iconic detective. Starting with seven seasons in the original show and now leading the spin-off series, the actor's captivating performance shows no signs of slowing down. With a third season already confirmed, fans can expect more of his uncompromising tactics on their TV screens.
Which characters are returning for Season 2?
Exciting news for fans of the series, as it has been announced that Bosch Legacy will kick off with a two-episode premiere in selected US theaters on October 18. The crime action show has always had a cinematic quality, so it will undoubtedly be a thrilling experience to see Bosch on the big screen. Let's hope this event is a huge success and paves the way for a future Bosch movie.Reprising his role as Harry Bosch, Titus Welliver will make a comeback in Bosch: Legacy. Joining him will be Madison Lintz as Maddie Bosch, his daughter and a fresh-faced police officer, Mimi Rogers as the sharp defense attorney, Honey 'Money' Chandler, and Stephen A. Chang as Mo Bassi, Bosch's technologically adept assistant who also happens to be a fervent fan of blues music.
Expect to witness further growth in Bosch's business relationship with former adversary, Honey Chandler, as he collaborates with her in his role as a private investigator, delving into cases she brings to his attention. Season 1 of Bosch: Legacy introduced several familiar faces from the original series, including the beloved double act Crate and Barrel, as well as Harry's former partner, Jerry Edgar. All three of these characters are confirmed to make guest appearances once again in season 2, with the latter set to star in his own spin-off series next year.
While there is no official confirmation of any other returning characters from the expanding Bosch universe, it wouldn't be surprising if more characters from the original show make brief cameos in Season 2. One character that would have been intriguing to see again is Lt. Irvin Irwing, but sadly Lance Reddick, the actor who portrayed this Machiavellian persona, passed away earlier this year. The writers of Bosch: Legacy will likely address Irwing's absence by having the character die off-screen. If not for Reddick's untimely demise, Irwing would have been a character that could have potentially made a comeback in the future.
What books will Season 2 be based on?
The upcoming season of Bosch: Legacy will take inspiration from Michael Connelly's novel, The Crossing, as it continues the story from the previous season. Maddie Bosch has suffered a kidnapping at the hands of an unknown assailant in her own apartment, and the new season will follow Harry Bosch as he reunites with his former partner, Jerry Edgar, in their search for Maddie.
In addition to this, Bosch will join forces with Honey Chandler to apprehend a murderer who has targeted both of them. The season will also explore the consequences of the murder of Carl Rogers, a prominent lawyer who had hired hitmen to kill him, in the final season of the original show. While he managed to escape legal consequences in the first season of Bosch: Legacy, he ultimately faced a dire fate before the end of the debut season.
The Crossing marked the 28th installment in the Bosch series, introducing Mickey Haller, Bosch's half-brother. However, it should be noted that Haller will not be featured in Bosch: Legacy due to Netflix's ownership of the character. Instead, Haller will continue to thrill audiences in the third season of his own show, The Lincoln Lawyer, which has already received the greenlight. On the other hand, rumors suggest that LAPD detective Renee Ballard, another one of Bosch's allies in the novels, may potentially make a cameo appearance in a backdoor pilot for her own spin-off show on Amazon.
These are truly exciting times for the ever-expanding and evolving Bosch universe. If the planned shows for characters like Jerry Edgar and Renee Ballard perform well, we can expect even more spin-offs to be on the horizon. One potential spin-off that holds promise is Crate and Barrel, where the dynamic duo can continue their remarkable chemistry as seen in the original Amazon Prime series. Additionally, there is an abundance of other strong characters who could easily carry their own shows, not to mention numerous figures from Michael Connelly's books who have yet to grace the television world of Bosch.
Bosch: Legacy Season 2 premieres with the first two episodes on Amazon Freevee on October 20.
