It is highly probable that there will be another confrontation between Boruto and Kawaki before the ultimate showdown. Although the two shinobi have had multiple encounters in the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga, they have not yet clashed in the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga.
The final battle, depicted as a flash-forward in the previous manga, featured Kawaki and Boruto in a showdown atop a ruined Hokage Rock, with the faces of the Hokage destroyed. The entire Hidden Leaf Village lay in ruins, indicating that this climactic fight must take place at the very end of the series.

With the manga series progressing, the new antagonist group called the "God Trees" will pose the next challenge for Boruto and his allies. Potential battles have been arranged as the God Trees select their targets, delaying the manga's journey to its ultimate confrontation.
Additionally, fans may recall Kawaki's desire to protect Naruto Uzumaki from Momoshiki Otsutsuki, leading him to attempt to kill Boruto. This suggests that Kawaki may continue to target Boruto in the unfolding story. This is supported by Kawaki's readiness to fight Boruto when he arrived at the Hidden Leaf Village to confront Code at the beginning of the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga.

Consequently, it is highly probable that there will be another showdown between Boruto and Kawaki, particularly now that Boruto has returned to the Hidden Leaf Village in the most recent chapter. This upcoming battle will likely serve as an opportunity for the two Shinobi to evaluate each other's strengths and weaknesses, allowing them to better prepare for their final confrontation.
Such a battle could potentially revolve around Kawaki, who has not yet demonstrated his full fighting capabilities in the new manga. As a result, fans and Boruto could be in for a surprise, discovering the new techniques that Kawaki has developed using his Karma mark.

This technique might explain how Kawaki could have potentially destroyed the Hidden Leaf Village as depicted in the flash-forward.
Editor's P/S
As a Gen Z fan of Boruto, I am thrilled about the possibility of an upcoming showdown between Boruto and Kawaki. The flash-forward scene at the beginning of the series has left me eagerly anticipating this epic clash. The recent developments in the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga, with the introduction of the God Trees and Kawaki's continued targeting of Boruto, suggest that we may be getting closer to this highly anticipated battle.
I believe that another confrontation between Boruto and Kawaki before the final showdown is not only likely but also necessary. It would provide an opportunity for both characters to showcase their growth and abilities, as well as to explore their complex relationship further. Additionally, it would build up the suspense and excitement leading to the ultimate showdown, making it even more impactful when it finally occurs.
