A twisted retelling of Sleeping Beauty is in the works, promising a blood-soaked massacre with graphic deaths The chilling details will leave horror fans eagerly anticipating its release

A new take on the classic fairytale Sleeping Beauty is currently in development, this time with a horror twist. The story of Charles Perrault's 1697 fairytale has been told and retold numerous times over the years, with adaptations ranging from the classic 1959 animated Disney movie to the two live-action Maleficent films starring Angelina Jolie. The tale follows a young princess who is cursed by an evil fairy and falls into a deep sleep, only to be awakened by true love's kiss after a hundred years. Now, according to Bloody Disgusting, a horror adaptation of the story is in the works, with filming set to begin in the UK this August. Titled Sleeping Beauty's Massacre, the film will be directed by Louisa Warren (known for Cinderella's Curse) and written by Jasmine Ebony Thomas (from Night Girlz). The cast includes Lora Hristova, Lila Lasso, Leah Glater, Robbie Taylor, Sophie Rankin, Charlotte Coleman, and Judy Tcherniak. Warren has teased that this new retelling will take the classic tale to terrifying new heights.

My goal is to push the boundaries of what audiences expect from a horror film and leave them feeling utterly disturbed. This movie will be filled with shocking twists, graphic violence, and an unforgettable climax. The source material provides endless possibilities for creating a truly terrifying experience.

Blood-Stained Beauty: Terrifying New Take on Sleeping Beauty

The upcoming movie Sleeping Beauty’s Massacre is set to add a terrifying twist to the classic children's tale. The story details revolve around Princess Thalia, whose life is left in shambles after the sudden death of her father. Due to her diminished social standing, she is unable to marry her beloved Prince Edison. Taking advantage of the situation, Queen Velma seizes the opportunity to take over the kingdom, using the dark powers of the occult to cast Thalia into a deep sleep. However, Thalia eventually awakens and begins to unravel Velma's web of deceit, leading to a series of violent twists and gory deaths.

The upcoming release of Sleeping Beauty's Massacre is part of a recent trend of adding macabre twists to classic children's tales, as seen with popular examples like Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey. It's not the only one in the works either, as Cinderella's Curse was recently announced by the same director and production company. While the original story of Sleeping Beauty had dark elements, subsequent retellings and adaptations have softened them to be more child-friendly. However, this new adaptation will not hold back on the darker aspects, with a planned release in 2023.
