Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho will remain at the club and engage in discussions and training sessions with the coaching staff during the international break. Both Sancho and the club are determined to help him regain his peak performance.
Sancho's future at Old Trafford was in doubt after a public dispute with manager Erik ten Hag over being excluded from the squad in last Sunday's loss to Arsenal. The 23-year-old expressed his belief that he had been unfairly blamed for a lengthy period, as Ten Hag attributed his omission to subpar training displays.
"Regarding his absence from the squad at the Emirates Stadium, Ten Hag explained that Sancho was not selected due to his performance during training. At Manchester United, it is crucial to consistently meet the expected level. Consequently, choices had to be made for the front line, resulting in Sancho being left out for this particular game."
However, Sancho later refuted Ten Hag's statements in a Sunday evening statement on X, labeling them as "completely untrue."
"Please refrain from blindly accepting everything you read! I refuse to tolerate false statements made by individuals," Sancho expressed. "Throughout this week's training sessions, I have upheld a commendable demeanor. I am of the opinion that there are other underlying factors contributing to this issue, which I choose not to delve into. I have been unfairly singled out as a scapegoat for quite some time!"
Sancho further stated: "All I aspire to do is play football joyfully and make a valuable contribution to my team."
Contrary to the rumors surrounding the public fallout, the English player will not be transferring to Saudi Arabia before their transfer window ends on Thursday at 10pm.
Since his move to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of £73m in 2021, Sancho has faced difficulties in maintaining consistent performance. In all competitions for the Red Devils, the England international has managed to score 12 goals in 82 appearances.
After a promising start to Ten Hag's debut season, Sancho experienced a significant hiatus from October 22 until February 1. During this time, he had to observe the World Cup from a distance and follow an individual winter fitness program in the Netherlands.
Once he made his return, Sancho participated in the Carabao Cup final triumph over Newcastle, concluding the season with an impressive tally of seven goals and three assists.
