One of the exciting announcements from The Game Awards was the unveiling of a new Blade video game by Arkane Lyon, the team behind Deathloop. The game is based on Marvel's iconic vampire-hunter and the trailer offers a sleek and brief glimpse into what's to come. As an added treat, fans can also get a peek at some stunning concept art from the game's art department, shared by co-creative and art director Sebastien Mitton of Arkane Lyon.
Set in the heart of Paris, Blade is a thrilling single-player, third-person game set in a quarantined section of the city. With vampires running amok, it's up to the Daywalker to bring an end to the supernatural threat and save the city.
"Blade is a sleek, stylish, and determined character, from his trench coat to his iconic sunglasses," Mitton expressed in a post on the Bethesda blog when the game was announced. "This project is a great opportunity to further push Arkane's art style into a more modern and daring direction. Our work is centered around impactful ideas and innovative expertise."
Although it's still early in the development of Marvel's Blade, the teaser trailer showcased some of the comic-book influence for the game. Arkane's unique art style is prominently featured, with a subtle texture to the visuals that harkens back to vintage comic book paper grains. Additionally, several other Marvel projects are currently in the works, such as EA's Iron Man and Black Panther games, a collaboration featuring Captain America and the Wakandan defender, and a Wolverine game from Spider-Man developer Insomniac.
