Halloween 2024 Is Getting More and More Interesting

Blacula Reboot Release Date Unveiled: Ideal Timing

Although horror movies are traditionally popular during the lead-up to Halloween, the month of October has recently seen a decline in the number of theatrical horror titles. In 2023, only two major wide-release horror movies, namely The Exorcist: Believer and the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy's movie, were released in October. It appears that many horror movies, such as this year's The Nun II and Saw X, are now being released in September, possibly to ensure an early theater release and ample time for streaming availability before Halloween.

Nevertheless, next October seems poised to buck this trend. Blacula has already been designated as the second movie to enjoy a prominent October 2024 release, assuming release dates remain unchanged amidst the ongoing Screen Actors Guild strike for fair pay. Typically, movie releases are not announced this far in advance, indicating that more horror movies will likely be added to the schedule within the year leading up to Halloween 2024.

Alongside Blacula, another horror movie to look out for is Smile 2, with Parker Finn returning as the director. Smile 2 is scheduled to premiere on October 18, 2024. Prior to that, on October 4, 2024, Joker: Folie à Deux will be released. Although not strictly a horror movie, it will incorporate psychological thriller elements and contribute to the Halloween ambiance.
