Donald Trump-backed Senate Republican candidate Bernie Moreno, who recently won a challenging primary race in Ohio, was asked by CNN if he believes the 2020 presidential election was stolen from the former president.
Moreno responded with a light-hearted tone, saying, “Oh my gosh, are we talking about that? We’ve had like three elections since then.” He emphasized the importance of looking forward, stating, “The reality is, we’re gonna look to the future.”
Leaving a meeting of the Republican conference in the Capitol, Moreno highlighted the concerns of Ohioans, saying, “The people in Ohio, what they care about is when they go to McDonald’s, they can’t afford French fries.”
He avoided giving a direct answer when asked if the item was stolen, and instead, he went to the office of Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell. "I don't think this is something that people usually consider," he mentioned.
In January, a digital ad was released by Moreno's campaign. In the ad, Moreno spoke directly into the camera and expressed, "President Trump claims the election was stolen, and I agree."
Moreno was in a primary race against other Republican candidates like Matt Dolan, who are considered more mainstream. When asked about his support from establishment Republicans and his chances of winning, Moreno remained optimistic and also criticized the Democrats.
