Captain Sandy Yawn from Below Deck Mediterranean and her fiancée, Leah Shafer, got married on Saturday, May 11.

Yawn, 59, shared the news on Instagram on Tuesday, May 14. She wrote, "On May 11th, we officially became Mrs. Sandy & Leah Yawn. I married the love of my life."

Shafer and Yawn first connected on Facebook in 2018 when Shafer reached out to Yawn with a kind message. Yawn shared with Cheat Sheet in 2019 that Shafer congratulated her on her show and sent her blessings.

Following their initial interaction on social media, Yawn and Shafer decided to meet in person in Los Angeles. It was during this meeting that they officially began their romantic relationship.

Yawn asked Shafer to marry him in September 2023, after being together for five years. He shared the exciting news on Instagram with photos from the beachfront proposal, exclaiming, "It’s official! I asked Leah to marry me, and she said YESSSSS. We are engaged! Stay tuned for wedding details."

Following the public announcement, Yawn spoke to E! News about the memorable occasion.

"I have been considering marrying Leah for a long time," she excitedly shared in September 2023. "I felt it in my heart since the day we met, but I wanted to wait for the perfect moment. I wanted us to be ready to take on life together before taking that big step."

Yawn made sure Shafer had a dreamy proposal. She organized a boat ride to a lovely cove, decorated with flowers. There was a path leading to a small table, with three violinists playing music for them to enjoy a romantic date.

Yawn was eager to ask Shafer to marry her as soon as they arrived at the location. "I couldn't wait any longer!" she remembered. She shared the list of love she had written and what she wanted, then she got down on one knee. Shafer said 'yes!'

"The expression on her face was priceless, and my heart felt like it was bursting with joy! It was more than I could have ever imagined," she added. "I feel even closer to her now, in a way that's hard to explain. There's an energy between us that I've never felt before. I love her more than words can express; as Leah puts it, Yawn beyond."

In November 2023, Yawn talked about the upcoming wedding with Leah. She mentioned that Leah is taking care of all the wedding planning, from the location to the flower arrangements.

Yawn also shared that the wedding will take place on a friend's super yacht, limiting the guest list to just 55 people.

Shafer not only had to choose the guest list, but she was also responsible for picking out Yawn's outfit for the event. However, Yawn made it clear that she would never wear a dress, no matter what.

Ever since they got engaged, Yawn has been talking about how her connection with Shafer has deepened. She expressed, "Leah and I are over the moon with happiness and our bond has only gotten stronger. It has brought us to a whole new level and I am absolutely loving it."

Shafer was previously married to Ross Shafer for 20 years, and the exes share daughter Lauren.
