HBO's The Last of Us TV series has been renewed for a second season, and actress Bella Ramsey, known for her role as Ellie, has revealed more details about what fans can anticipate. In an interview with Collider, Ramsey expressed excitement for the "really intense stuff" and the stunt work that will be featured in Season 2. She even mentioned her willingness to potentially endure physical harm for the role.
"Ramsey expressed excitement about Ellie's improved physical condition in Season 2, stating, 'I love doing stunts, waking up with bruises the next day, and even getting a black eye because it feels so good to have done it.' Ramsey also shared anticipation for scenes with Dina, a character from The Last of Us: Part II who will appear in the show. Although Ramsey had romantic scenes in Season 1, they are eager to explore more depth in Season 2."
"I had a single episode in Season 1 with Ellie and Riley, but the prospect of having their storyline continue throughout the entirety of the second game with Ellie and Dina is truly thrilling," stated Ramsey.
Season 2 will also include the character Abby. According to showrunner Craig Mazin, the role has already been filled, but it is still unknown who landed the part.
Filming for Season 2 is set to commence in early 2024, according to Ramsey. There has been a potential leak of the exact production start date, which is rumored to be January 7, 2024. The show is expected to premiere in 2025.
House of the Dragon, another prominent HBO show, is also slated to make a return with its second season premiering in Summer 2024. Unlike other shows, House of the Dragon did not halt production during the Hollywood strikes and remained on track with its schedule.
Naughty Dog's The Last of Us multiplayer game has been temporarily suspended, and there are discussions about the potential development of The Last of Us: Part III, although no official announcement has been made yet.
