Las Palmas was outraged by the decision to award Barça the penalty, leading to midfielder Kirian Rodríguez questioning the referee after the game. However, Barcelona manager Xavi expressed his belief that it was the correct decision.

"Tension is always present, with nerves running high as everyone is eager to win," Xavi stated, as reported by Reuters. "Regarding the penalty, it's clear to me. We secured the victory in the final moments with a penalty. While I understand Kirian [Rodríguez], it was a push and therefore a penalty."

The heated match resulted in seven yellow cards and Sinkgraven receiving a red card. Despite the altercation, Barcelona's victory secures their position as third in La Liga, as they strive to close the seven-point gap between themselves and Real Madrid and Girona in the league title race.
