Bachelor Nation’s Michael Allio, known from his appearances on The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise, showed that soccer can bring tears just like baseball can't.

The 39-year-old Allio shared a video on Instagram on May 9, showing his 7-year-old son, James, having a meltdown after a game they played together.

"I'm not sure if you can hear this, but my son is crying," Allio said as she showed footage of James throwing a tantrum. "We only played soccer for about 10 seconds and I managed to score a goal. Now he's really mad at me."

Allio chuckled and added, "He even told me, 'Don't talk to me. Ever.' He's apparently holding a grudge for life."

Allio was seen lounging in the grass as his son played with a ball and cried.

A lot of Allio's followers, especially those who have kids, could relate to the video.

"Welcome to parenthood," commented one person on Allio's post. "They go through phases of loving you, hating you, adoring you, despising you, and the cycle continues. But somehow, in the end, they all turn out alright."

Another person shared, "Yesterday, I won in Mario Kart even though my child usually beats me. He ended up crying and told me I'm the worst mommy ever."

However, not everybody found the humor in Allio’s post.

“You’re filming him while he cries?” one follower questioned.

Another person mentioned, "You can share your story without including a picture of your son. As a parent myself, I understand that some things are funny and can be shared. However, it's not necessary to post a picture of him. He wouldn't want that if he knew."

Allio also interacted with the feedback, acknowledging the second commenter by saying, "I understand where you're coming from."

Allio shared with me that he found the video amusing. He was laughing and crying at the same time because he realized he was being a bit of a diva, which happens to all of us. He appreciated the feedback.

Allio is now a single father to James since his wife, Laura Ritter-Allio, passed away from breast cancer in 2019. He began dating Danielle Maltby during the filming of Bachelor in Paradise, but they broke up in September 2023.

Editor's P/S:

The article highlights the emotional rollercoaster of parenthood, where moments of joy can quickly turn into tantrums and tears. Michael Allio's video of his son's post-soccer meltdown resonates with parents who have experienced similar situations. The comments section reveals a spectrum of reactions, from empathy and humor to concerns about exploiting a child's emotions.

Allio's decision to share the video has raised questions about privacy and consent. While some argue that it is a relatable and humorous moment, others believe that it is inappropriate to post a child's emotional distress for public consumption. Allio's response indicates that he has considered these perspectives and acknowledges the potential for harm. The incident underscores the delicate balance between sharing personal experiences and respecting the privacy of others, especially children.
