Article Brief:
According to a press release, Bacardí is teaming up with Grammy award-winning producer Boi-1da once more. This partnership involves an AI-powered music activation that utilizes generative AI to facilitate collaboration with musicians.
This year, the brand's ongoing "Music Liberates Music" program focuses on the release of "The Concept A.I.bum" in November. The album will highlight five emerging artists and demonstrate the collaborative recording process utilizing generative AI. To support the artists, a limited-edition vinyl will be offered for sale, with all proceeds going to them.
Article Insight:
Bacardí hopes to generate consumer interest in its latest music initiative by incorporating AI technology. In this project, five musicians, namely Bellah, Blackway, Floyd Fuji, Kyle Dion, and Savannah Ré, will input their tracks into an AI tool that has been trained on the musical style of Boi-1da. These artists will then collaborate with the producer to refine the tracks, resulting in the release of the first-ever AI-powered EP by Boi-1da.
The activation occurs several months following the release of updated rules by The Recording Academy, the parent organization of the Grammy Awards, on the utilization of AI in music submissions for awards consideration. As outlined by the organization, awards are exclusively bestowed upon individuals. Nonetheless, AI may be employed as long as humans make substantial contributions to the works being considered.
Laila Mignoni, global head of brand marketing communications for Bacardí, emphasized the importance of approaching this project with respect and protection for the artist. She stated that the technology should always complement and protect the work of each artist involved.
Bacardí's "Music Liberates Music" program has always relied on technology. In a previous project, the rum brand introduced wearable QR codes to support emerging artists. Boi-1da collaborated with Bacardí on that initiative as well.
