The MCU and Kang have been experiencing significant developments, including the involvement of star Jonathan Majors. To ensure you are updated, here is what we currently know about Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which includes details about its release date, plot, cast speculation, and more.

Up until now, there have been four Avengers films: The Avengers (also known as Avengers Assemble in the UK), Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

The last two movies marked the grand finale of the Infinity Saga, as Thanos eradicated half of all life in the universe with a snap, ultimately succumbing to the same fate himself.

However, this was only the beginning of a new chapter, as two upcoming Avengers films are already in the works within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In this regard, let's delve into what we currently know about Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, including its release date, cast, and potential plot details.

Avengers The Kang Dynasty release date: When is it coming out?

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is due for release on May 1, 2026.

Originally scheduled for May 2, 2025, Disney decided to postpone its release by a year in June 2023 due to significant alterations in its movie lineup. This film is the third installment out of the four already confirmed movies in Phase Six of the MCU, following Deadpool 3 and Fantastic Four, and preceding Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027.

Daniel Destin Cretton was initially slated to direct the project; however, Deadline reported in November 2023 that he will be stepping down in order to prioritize other MCU ventures, such as Wonder Shang-Chi 2 and Wonder Man.

At present, the individual who will take the helm remains unknown. Jeff Sneider, an informed figure in the industry, conveyed in a newsletter that "Secret Wars" is envisioned as a two-part endeavor by Marvel, thus necessitating a director capable of overseeing both films. Speculatively, Matt Shakman could potentially be considered for the role after completing "Fantastic Four."

Is there an Avengers: The Kang Dynasty trailer?

No, there isn’t a trailer for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty at the time of writing.

The production of the movie has not started yet, so it is unlikely that we will have any footage for some time. Once a trailer is released online, we will update this space. Meanwhile, you can watch Kang in the trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania below:

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty cast – Who’s in it?

There is uncertainty surrounding Jonathan Majors reprising his role as Kang the Conqueror. He portrayed the character as He Who Remains in Loki and as Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Majors was apprehended in March 2023 on charges of assaulting his companion, as reported by The Direct.

While he makes an appearance in Loki Season 2, his character's storyline concluded in a manner that allows for closure, depending on the decision of Marvel Studios. Currently, Majors' future within the MCU remains uncertain.

During an interview with Comicbook.com on November 10th, Simu Liu, the actor who portrays Shang-Chi, appeared to confirm that his character will be making an appearance in The Kang Dynasty. Liu expressed his happiness for director Destin Daniel Cretton, who has been chosen to direct the next Avengers movie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Liu stated, "I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him again."

However, Sneider expressed doubt in his newsletter, stating, "Considering that Season 2 of Loki may potentially conclude Kang's storyline, it's fair to question whether The Kang Dynasty will actually happen." He did, however, mention that there is ample time to determine the situation.

Speculation is growing that Doctor Doom may replace Kang as the primary antagonist in the upcoming Avengers films. Consequently, there is a possibility that the title "The Kang Dynasty" could undergo a revision. It should be noted that these details are mere conjecture at present. However, if this scenario were to materialize, it would necessitate a complete recasting of the film's villain.

Adding to the rumor mill, there have been whispers suggesting that Tom Holland will once again portray the iconic Spider-Man character in the movie, potentially positioning him as the central figure.

Official cast details for the movie have not been released yet, however, there are some reasonable predictions that can be made. Given that it is an Avengers film, it is likely that we can expect to see any of the following characters:

- Anthony Mackie portraying Captain America.

Sebastian Stan as The Winter Soldier/White Wolf

Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk

Chris Hemsworth as Thor

Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye

Don Cheadle as War Machine

Brie Larson as Captain Marvel

Paul Rudd as Ant-Man

Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange

Benedict Wong as Wong

Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff

Tom Hiddleston as Loki

Letitia Wright as Shuri

Danai Gurira as Okoye

Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury

Evangeline Lilly as The Wasp

Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie

Florence Pugh portrays the character Yelena Belova. However, there are some uncertainties surrounding the future of the Guardians of the Galaxy team. Director James Gunn has mentioned that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will potentially mark the final appearance of this particular team of Guardians, leaving their future uncertain.

Marvel fans eagerly await the possibility of Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. reprising their iconic roles as Steve Rogers and Tony Stark. Additionally, there is curiosity surrounding the future of new Disney+ cast members, such as Haillee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel, Oscar Isaac as Moon Knight, Tatiana Maslany as She-Hulk, and, potentially, Charlie Cox as Daredevil in the cinematic Avengers universe.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty plot – What is it about?

Although there is no official information available about the plot at present, the movie might draw inspiration from the Kang Dynasty comics event. This event comprised a 16-part storyline in the Marvel universe from 2001 to 2002. However, it remains uncertain if Marvel intends to further explore the Kang narrative.

Kang the Conqueror, a long-standing adversary of the Avengers, is set to achieve his greatest victory yet. In an epic battle to conquer Earth, Kang harnesses his vast and diverse armies from across different points in time. The fate of our planet now rests on whether the mighty Avengers can fend off this immense threat or succumb to defeat and fall under Kang's rule.

In Loki Season 1, Sylvie's actions led to the creation of multiple timelines, resulting in the emergence of Kang and his various versions across the multiverse. However, Loki Season 2 provided an opportunity for Marvel to conclude Kang's storyline if they choose not to continue with Majors in future projects.

Furthermore, there are rumors that writer Jeff Loveness, who previously mentioned the focus on the next generation of Avengers, may no longer be involved as Marvel intends to move away from the Kang narrative. If these rumors are true and Doctor Doom replaces Kang, it would significantly impact the future plot.

Another suggestion is that The Kang Dynasty might be substituted with Eternity Wars, as observant fans noticed that Marvel had withdrawn trademarks for Eternity Saga, Nomad, and Runaways: New Era, but not for Avengers: Eternity Wars. A fan responded to a post about the movie on X/Twitter, stating: "Could Eternity Wars be a backup title for The Kang Dynasty in case they need to discard Majors?"

We’ll be sure to keep this post updated as and when new details emerge.
