Assassin's Creed Mirage's Permadeath Mode Postponed Until 2024

Assassin's Creed Mirage's highly anticipated Permadeath Mode has unfortunately been delayed until 2024 However, fans can still look forward to the arrival of New Game Plus next week

Ubisoft has revealed that the permadeath feature for Assassin's Creed Mirage will be delayed until 2024. However, the New Game Plus feature is still set to be released this month.

"Get ready for the upcoming New Game Plus for Assassin's Creed Mirage next week! Jump back into Basim's adventure with your current progress and new bonuses," Ubisoft announced on Twitter. "The team is continuing to work on the permadeath mode, which is anticipated to be included in an update early in 2024. Stay tuned for more updates!"

The December update was initially set to feature both the permadeath and New Game Plus options, but it seems we'll have to wait a bit longer for the former. Permadeath mode will be accessible on all difficulty levels.

Assassin's Creed Mirage launched in October with Ubisoft stating no DLC plans. Nevertheless, the game will still receive ongoing updates.

Ubisoft has refused to add more story content, but other studios have reversed similar decisions. For instance, Square Enix initially stated that there would be no DLC for Final Fantasy XVI, but they have since released their first DLC, Echoes of the Fallen. Additionally, Ubisoft is currently developing more Assassin's Creed games, such as Assassin's Creed Infinity, and is working on a new installment for Netflix.

Our review of Assassin's Creed Mirage on our website noted that while the game returns to the series' roots by emphasizing social stealth and making learning about a city's history enjoyable, it falls short of reaching the same levels as its early predecessors due to a lackluster cast of characters.

Editor's P/S

As a Gen Z fan of the Assassin's Creed franchise, I'm disappointed by the delay of the permadeath mode in Assassin's Creed Mirage. I was eagerly looking forward to experiencing the game with the added challenge and stakes that permadeath brings. The postponement until 2024 feels like a long wait, and I hope Ubisoft can provide more frequent updates on its development progress to keep fans engaged.

On the other hand, I'm excited about the upcoming New Game Plus feature, which will allow me to replay the game with my current progress and new bonuses. This will give me an opportunity to explore different choices and strategies, and potentially uncover new secrets and content that I may have missed during my first playthrough. I appreciate Ubisoft's commitment to supporting Assassin's Creed Mirage with ongoing updates, even though there are no plans for DLC.
