A player of Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has crafted an extraordinary mechanical gadget that can propel Link from the Depths to the Sky Islands. The game's Ultrahand mechanic has inspired countless remarkable creations, ranging from vehicles to homages to other beloved franchises. Thanks to the new Zonai Devices in Tears of the Kingdom, players have had even greater freedom to invent unconventional machines. While the game's puzzles offer plenty of devices, some players have taken it upon themselves to design contraptions capable of soaring through the clouds. One such fan creation has set its sights on launching Link to unprecedented heights, from the lowest point in Hyrule all the way up to the skies above.
A Reddit user by the name of Paradox_Guardian has showcased a unique contraption on the Tears of the Kingdom subreddit. The device is made up of minecarts, a battery, and a wooden plank. By spinning the plank rapidly with the use of the battery and minecarts, the player can activate the "Recall" function, which reverses the flow of time for the device. When the player climbs onto the platform as it resumes, Link is launched into the air from the Depths, sending him soaring high into the Sky Islands above. At the end of the video, the user collects a Sundelion as a souvenir from their skyward journey. Many Zelda fans have utilized Zonai devices to exploit various game mechanics, such as the Ultrahand mechanics and Zonai Devices to remove NPCs from their intended setting, or to rapidly propel objects like planks across Hyrule, which are often used as popular speedrun strategies.
Thanks to its unique mechanics, Tears of the Kingdom has been a huge success for Nintendo since its release. In just three days, the game sold over 10 million copies, making it the fastest-selling game in the Legend of Zelda franchise and outpacing even highly anticipated titles like Elden Ring. The game's new features have allowed for a level of creativity that has undoubtedly contributed to its popularity. You can now play The Legends of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch.
