During a recent Extra Life charity stream, Studio Wildcard cofounder Jeremy Stieglitz candidly admitted that the multiplayer servers for Ark: Survival Ascended are severely lacking in performance and stability.
The executive announced plans to enhance Survival Ascended's servers over time. "We need to improve it. It's going to be improved," he stated, as reported by IGN.
Survival Ascended is a remastered version of the original Ark using Unreal Engine 5. It was released in October for PC (via Early Access) and in November for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
The PC version available on Steam has received a "mixed" overall review score due to various performance and server issues. However, despite these challenges, Snail, Inc., the owner of Studio Wildcard, announced that the game managed to sell 600,000 copies within the first two weeks of its release. Additionally, Studio Wildcard confirmed during the stream that the release of the planned Scorched Earth DLC, originally scheduled for December, has been postponed until March 2024, as reported by Gamingbolt.
In addition to Survival Ascended, Studio Wildcard is developing Ark II featuring none other than Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel.
Editor's P/S
As an enthusiastic fan of the Ark series, I am both excited and concerned about the recent news regarding the performance and stability issues of Ark: Survival Ascended's servers. On one hand, I am thrilled that Studio Wildcard is actively addressing these concerns and has promised improvements to enhance the overall gameplay experience. The fact that they are taking player feedback seriously and working towards resolving these issues is commendable.
On the other hand, I can't help but feel frustrated by the current state of the servers. As a dedicated player, I have personally experienced the abysmal performance and instability firsthand, which can be incredibly discouraging and hinder the enjoyment of the game. The fact that the PC version has received mixed reviews due to these issues further highlights the urgency of addressing them. I hope that Studio Wildcard will prioritize these improvements and provide regular updates on their progress to keep the community informed.
