The Big Picture

Apple TV+ is increasing its monthly and annual subscription prices by $3 and $30 respectively.

Netflix, Hulu, and Disney Plus have also increased their prices this year. Additionally, Apple TV+ has received praise from critics and received numerous Emmy nominations for its well-received series and films, featuring popular titles such as Ted Lasso and CODA.

On the eve of Apple's highly anticipated streaming debut of their most expensive film to date, Killers of the Flower Moon, the company is significantly raising the prices for Apple TV+. The monthly subscription will now be $10 per month, a $3 increase from the previous price of $7. Similarly, the annual subscription will cost $100, up from $70, marking a price hike of over 40% in both cases. These price increases come shortly after Apple reported a profit of $19.8 billion.

Following suit with other streaming services, Apple is now joining the likes of Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus, Paramount Plus, Discovery Plus, and Max in raising prices this year. Additionally, Apple is increasing the costs of its other services, namely Apple Arcade, Apple News Plus, and Apple One.

“With its impressive array of award-winning and critically acclaimed series, feature films, documentaries, and family entertainment, Apple TV+ has achieved groundbreaking success in the streaming service industry since its launch four years ago," stated an Apple spokesperson in a prepared announcement.
