Anne Twist, who is 56 years old, admires her son Harry Styles very much. She recently talked about what it's like to be the mother of a famous singer on the “Spinning Plates With Sophie Ellis-Bextor” podcast on May 27. Anne shared that she mostly loves watching her son perform, but there are times when she is so amazed that she can't even find the words to describe it.
Twist shared her experience of standing and staring at Styles, 30, feeling unsure if it was admiration or something else. She recalled watching him on stage at school, often moved to tears of joy, either laughing or feeling overwhelmed.
Reflecting on watching her son, Twist described a sense of warmth that comes from deep within. She struggled to find the right word to capture the emotion, emphasizing that it went beyond just pride.
“He still surprises me sometimes. During his last concert in Italy, he delivered an entire speech in Italian. I was left speechless, just standing there with my mouth hanging open,” she remembered. “I find myself often observing the crowd and their reactions.”
Twist mentioned how enjoyable it is to witness people's responses to Styles on stage, but also acknowledged the challenges of dealing with his level of fame.

Twist explained that he doesn't have many issues with his fame, but he can now tell when someone recognizes him while he's out and about. He mentioned that he always tries to be polite, especially when young girls approach him and sometimes even give them a hug.
Styles became famous as a member of One Direction, a band formed on the U.K.'s The X Factor in 2010. Twist is the person Styles credits for his rise to fame.
Ever since he was 2 or 3 years old, I could tell there was something special about him. I used to joke that he would become a performer, but I never knew what he would end up doing," she shared on Monday's podcast episode, describing Styles as a lively and cheerful entertainer in his early years.
Twist disclosed that she was the one who encouraged him to audition for X Factor.
She couldn't recall the exact thought that crossed her mind. She simply decided to send off a tape.
She then explained, "I told him, 'I managed to secure you an audition, but the decision is entirely yours. If you're not interested, that's okay. I just wanted to have it as an option.' ... And so, we took a chance."
