Angelina Jolie attended the opening night of The Outsiders on Friday, April 11 in New York City. To honor her work as a producer of the new Broadway musical, the 48-year-old actress debuted a special tattoo. The tattoo reads “Stay Gold,” a reference to the words of Pony Boy, a character from the play.

The actress was not the only one from the show to get a "Stay Gold" tattoo. Justin Levine, a member of the creative team for The Outsiders, also proudly displayed his matching ink on Sunday, April 14.

Levine shared his surprise on Instagram Story, mentioning tattoo artist Mark Mahoney. Other reports also mentioned that several other members of the creative team also got the tattoo done by Mahoney.

Jolie not only proudly displayed her new body art, but also expressed her admiration for her daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, who is 15 years old and is assisting her in producing the upcoming Broadway musical. (Jolie has children Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 17, and Knox, 15, with her former spouse Brad Pitt.)

Before heading into the theater, Jolie mentioned that Vivienne has been instrumental in keeping her focused and organized during the production of the show.

Jolie shared with People that her daughter is quick to correct her, reminding her of tasks mentioned in memos and emphasizing the importance of following through. She mentioned that her daughter approaches her responsibilities with a high level of seriousness.

In August 2023, Jolie made the exciting announcement that she would be taking on the role of lead producer for the musical adaptation of The Outsiders. The musical is based on S.E. Hinton's novel from 1967 and Francis Ford Coppola's film from 1983. Jolie credited her daughter Vivienne for inspiring her to pursue this project after they attended the world premiere of the musical at La Jolla Playhouse.

She shared with People that Viv reminds her of her mother because she focuses on supporting other creatives rather than seeking attention. Viv is thoughtful and dedicated to theater, working hard to learn how to contribute effectively.

Jolie has previously worked with her children on projects. Currently, she is working on a film called Without Blood with her sons Maddox and Pax. Jolie is the director of the movie, while her sons are assisting as directors.

“We work well together. When a film crew is at its best, it feels like a big family, so it felt natural,” she told People in August 2022.
