The shadows act as a conduit for the conjuration of the shikigami, mirroring the intricate form of the user's handcrafted shadow puppet, and generating tangible liquid shadows infused with cursed energy to manifest the summoned creatures.

After gathering additional Shikigami, the individual is able to perform the ritual again in order to banish and gather a maximum of ten unique Shikigami. Nevertheless, throughout the Zenin Clan's history, no one has successfully subdued Mahoraga due to its immense strength.

In the latest episode of Jujutsu Kaisen, Megumi begins an exorcism ritual on Mahoraga and forces Haruta to take part. However, Megumi faints shortly after starting the ritual. His intention was for Mahoraga to kill Haruta and end the ritual, resulting in both Megumi and Haruta's deaths.

But Sukuna intervenes and prevents Mahoraga from killing Haruta. Sukuna reveals that he still has plans for Megumi and uses the Reverse Cursed Technique to heal him. Sukuna then destroys the Shikigami himself, before losing control of Yuji's body. Despite not being part of the ritual, Sukuna defeats Mahoraga in order to render it ineffective.
