The official trailer for Aquaman 2, titled Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, has finally been released. Surprisingly, Amber Heard's Mera is noticeably absent from the trailer. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the sequel, especially after the massive success of the first film, which earned an incredible $1.152 billion at the box office and established Jason Momoa's Arthur Murry as an unexpected triumph in the DC Universe.
Aquaman 2 features Momoa reprising his role as the underwater superhero, with Black Manta still fueled by the desire to avenge his father's demise. His relentless pursuit of Aquaman is highlighted in the new trailer, building anticipation for the film's release in theaters.

Much speculation surrounded the actress' potential involvement in the film following her highly-publicized loss in the defamation case against her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, last year. Despite several petitions advocating for her removal from Aquaman 2, she ultimately retained her role. Nevertheless, observant viewers were swift to point out her noticeable absence in the latest trailer.
"Is Amber Heard in it?" asked one person, while another questioned, "Where is Amber Heard?" A third person expressed their disappointment, stating, "You could have easily replaced Amber Heard if you're not going to promote her." Finally, a fourth person joined in, humorously noting, "There isn't even a single shot of Amber Heard."
During an interview with EW in September, director James Wan disclosed that in The Lost Kingdom, Amber Heard's character, Mera, will have a smaller role compared to the first film.
Wan, however, emphasized his vision for the second movie to focus more on the bromance between Orm and Aquaman, clarifying that the decreased role for the character was unrelated to the recent lawsuit. Aquaman 2 is set to hit theaters on December 22. For further details about the film, click here, and explore our additional superhero hubs below.

Editor's P/S
As a fan of the Aquaman franchise, I have mixed feelings about Amber Heard's reduced role in the upcoming sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. On the one hand, I understand the decision to minimize her involvement given the recent controversies surrounding her personal life. The film's producers likely want to avoid any potential backlash or negative publicity that could overshadow the movie's release.
On the other hand, I am disappointed that Mera, who played a significant role in the first film, will have a diminished presence in the sequel. I enjoyed Heard's portrayal of the character and found her chemistry with Jason Momoa's Aquaman to be one of the highlights of the first movie. I hope that despite her reduced role, Mera will still have a meaningful impact on the story and contribute to the overall enjoyment of the film. Ultimately, I will reserve judgment until I see the final product and how the filmmakers have chosen to handle Mera's character.
