Amazing Twist: Starfield Player's Last Digipick Uncovers an Epic Surprise in Expert Weapon Case!

A Starfield player's unfortunate surprise awaits after using their final Digipick on an expert weapon case, leaving them utterly disappointed with the outcome

Highlights

One player is disappointed after using up their Digipicks to open a difficult weapon case in Starfield only to find it completely empty.

Some players are dissatisfied with the rewards obtained from expert or master-level locks in the game, questioning whether the empty weapon case is a bug or a deliberate prank by the developers. However, players are hopeful for a prompt patch.

After spending all their Digipicks on opening a challenging weapon case, a Starfield player is disappointed to find it empty. Starfield, Bethesda's latest RPG, has already attracted over 10 million players in less than a month. Many players have devoted hours to exploring the Settled Systems and constructing fascinating spaceships or settlements.

In line with Bethesda Game Studios' tradition, Starfield boasts a lockpicking puzzle mechanic known as the Digipick system, a futuristic sci-fi adaptation. Similar to lockpicking and terminal hacking in The Elder Scrolls and Fallout series, different locks in Starfield are categorized into novice, advanced, expert, and master tiers. Players must correctly insert multiple Digipicks into each ring of the lock to overcome the puzzle. Novice and advanced locks consist of two rings, expert locks have three rings, and mastering a lock with four rings proves incredibly challenging. Advancing the Security skill grants players access to more difficult locks.

One Starfield player named Andre_BR1 on Reddit encountered disappointment when they used their last Digipick to unlock a large expert weapon case, only to find it empty. They shared an image on Reddit showing the vacant weapon case amidst other ammo crates and first aid boxes in a room. While many weapon cases in Starfield usually contain a small amount of ammo, the one Andre_BR1 opened had no prizes at all.

The reason for this empty weapon case remains uncertain; it could be a bug or a playful joke by a developer from Bethesda Game Studios. If the case had been a challenging master lock with nothing inside, the disappointment would have been even greater. Regardless of the cause for this specific case being empty, some players expressed dissatisfaction with the underwhelming rewards they received from expert or master-level locks in Starfield. They expect that overcoming such challenging puzzles should result in valuable gear, weapons, and credits. However, it appears that some players find better loot hidden behind novice or advanced locks instead. In response, one commenter reminded players that crates and cases with red lights are always empty, even if they have not been opened or unlocked yet.

If Andre_BR1's discovery of an empty expert weapon case is indeed a bug and not just a developer's prank, it is hopeful that Bethesda will address it promptly. Starfield, being a large-scale Bethesda RPG, surprisingly launched with a minimal amount of bugs. It would be interesting to observe if Bethesda also considers enhancing the rewards obtained from successful lockpicking attempts, particularly at the expert or master levels. These potential fixes or enhancements may be included in the upcoming Starfield patch, as the game has not required many patches thus far.

Starfield is currently accessible on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
