Allegations Surface Against Jonathan Van Ness Regarding 'Rage Issues' on 'Queer Eye' Set

Jonathan Van Ness has been accused of having anger issues on set by several members of the Queer Eye production staff.
According to a Rolling Stone exposé published on Tuesday, March 5, one unnamed person who previously worked with Van Ness, 36, mentioned that there is a sense of fear when they get angry. It's like something out of a cartoon, where the anger seems to ooze out of them. The intensity of their anger is described as scary.
Seven individuals who have worked alongside Van Ness spoke out, stating that Van Ness would frequently get angry with crew members. Three people said that the reality star was emotionally “abusive” and had issues with anger, while four others, who mainly worked on Queer Eye, described Van Ness as a “monster,” “nightmare,” and “demeaning.”
According to one former coworker, “Jonathan is a complex individual who can be very warm and charismatic, making you feel special when they pay attention to you. However, it was common for them to yell at someone at least once a day. It could be over something minor, but there was always someone to blame and vilify.”
A member of the production team of Queer Eye has accused Van Ness of causing challenges during filming. Another individual stated that Van Ness contributed to tensions among the other stars on set. Apart from Van Ness, the show also features Antoni Porowski, Karamo Brown, and Tan France. Bobby Berk was part of the series for the first eight seasons but left earlier this year. (Jeremiah Brent will be joining the show to replace Berk.)

The production member claimed that there was tension among everyone, particularly with Jonathan Van Ness. He did not like sharing the spotlight with others. At times, filming scenes with certain members of the Fab Five together was difficult because of the situation.
Before the allegations against Van Ness came to light, there were rumors of a feud on the Queer Eye set involving Berk and France. Fans suspected that Berk, 42, and France, 40, were not getting along after Berk unfollowed France on social media when he left Queer Eye in November 2023. Berk later admitted that they had a personal issue but regretted unfollowing France.
In an interview with Vanity Fair in January, Berk acknowledged his mistake. He mentioned that he should not have unfollowed Tan and maybe just muted him instead. Berk explained that he was upset that day, but they eventually reconciled because they had become like siblings who may argue but always make up.
