Under development is Avengers: Secret Wars, the second installment of the two forthcoming Avengers movies. Here is what we currently know about the film, including its release date, potential trailer updates, cast members, and plot details.
Marvel StudiosSecret Wars has been rumored for years.
Avengers Secret Wars release date: When is it coming out?
Avengers: Secret Wars was originally scheduled to release on May 1, 2026. However, Disney made significant changes to its movie schedule in June 2023, resulting in the release date being moved forward to May 7, 2027.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will be the second of two Avengers movies in Phase Six. It is the fifth confirmed movie in the MCU's Phase Six, along with Blade, Thunderbolts, and Fantastic Four. However, these plans may be subject to change if rumors of The Kang Dynasty being scrapped are true. This speculation arises amidst the controversy surrounding Jonathan Majors and the recent departure of director Daniel Destin Cretton, who has shifted his focus to other projects within the MCU, according to Deadline.
Additionally, fans are speculating that Doctor Doom will replace Majors' titular villain in the upcoming movie. Furthermore, Marvel recently dropped several trademarks, but surprisingly, they decided to keep Avengers: Eternity Wars. This news has left fans wondering if Secret Wars will be moved up in the schedule, potentially followed by Eternity Wars.
We’ll be sure to keep this space updated with any new details.

Owen Wilson will portray Mobius M. Mobius in the upcoming movie. However, there is still uncertainty surrounding the actor set to play Doctor Doom in the MCU. Given his importance as one of the key antagonists in Marvel's history, it is anticipated that a notable actor will be chosen for the role.
James Gunn mentioned that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will mark the final appearance of this particular group of Guardians, leaving doubts about their future return. Another significant uncertainty revolves around Jonathan Majors, who portrayed Kang the Conqueror/He Who Remains. Considering Majors' recent controversy and the conclusion of his arc in Loki Season 2, the character's fate within the Marvel Cinematic Universe remains uncertain.
Industry insider Jeff Sneider raised doubts about the possibility of "The Kang Dynasty" happening, considering that Season 2 of Loki may serve as the conclusion of Kang's storyline. However, he acknowledged that there is still ample time to make a decision. Additionally, there is a concern among fans about Marvel potentially bringing back Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. to reprise their roles as Steve Rogers and Tony Stark.
But considering that the multi-verse arc has been taking over the MCU, it’s possible that any actor who’s ever played a Marvel hero could appear.
Michael Waldron, the writer for Loki and Doctor Strange 2, has been chosen to draft the script for Avengers: Secret Wars. Despite the absence of a director at the moment, there is speculation that Ryan Coogler or even the Russo Brothers might come on board.
Avengers Secret Wars plot: What is it about?
There have been several iterations of Secret Wars storylines in the Marvel comics. The initial crossover took place between 1984 and 1985. This was followed by a sequel called Secret Wars II. In 2004, a standalone story titled Secret War was released, which was not connected to the original narrative. Beyond, a successor to the original series, also exists. Lastly, the Secret Wars event of 2015 completes the lineup of these Marvel comic storylines.
We won't delve into all the specifics, but we'll provide an overview of the original Secret Wars, as certain aspects from it are expected to be incorporated into the film adaptation.
Marvel Comics' Secret Wars has the potential to become an even grander event than the Infinity Saga.
In Secret Wars, Earth's most powerful heroes and villains are transported by a cosmic being called the Beyonder to Battleworld, a specially created planet designed for one purpose: to ignite their battles. The Beyonder addresses those he has taken captive, proclaiming, "I am beyond! Conquer your enemies and everything you desire shall be within your grasp! There is nothing you can imagine that I cannot achieve."
Among the heroic characters involved in this extraordinary event are Spider-Man, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Hawkeye, Iron Man, She-Hulk, Thor, the Wasp, the Hulk, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men.
There is a diverse range of villains in the film, with Kang the Conqueror, portrayed by Jonathan Majors, and Doctor Doom being the most prominent ones. While Kang's role has been cast, the actor for Doctor Doom is yet to be determined.
Considering the connection between Secret Wars and The Kang Dynasty, it is plausible to anticipate that the latter film will conclude with a cliffhanger where the characters are transported to Battleworld when the heroes appear to have lost all hope. However, Marvel may alter this plan by completely removing Kang from the storyline.
We’ll be sure to keep this post updated as and when new details roll in.
