Alicia Keys' Controversial Paragliding Post: The Untold Truth Behind the Deletion

Alicia Keys addresses controversy surrounding her paragliding post amid the Israel-Hamas conflict, responding to criticism over its perceived insensitivity

Alicia Keys has addressed criticism regarding a recent social media post that drew backlash for being perceived as insensitive amidst the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

The singer and former coach on "The Voice" had previously shared a picture of herself wearing a green jacket, along with the caption, "What would you do if you had no fears???" The post has since been deleted.

"Share your truth with me... I've been intrigued by paragliding," she typed, accompanied by "side-eye" emojis and the hashtag "Monday energy."

Keys faced backlash for mentioning "paragliding," as it reminded people of the Oct. 7 attack on Israel where Hamas militants employed paragliders.

Some individuals also attempted to associate her wearing green, which is the color of the Hamas flag, as an indication of endorsing the organization.

Following the incident, Keys clarified on her Instagram stories, stating, "The post I shared had absolutely no connection to the tragic loss of innocent lives that occurred recently. It is disheartening for me to witness such events... I offer my prayers for peace and advocate for it."

Guy Oseary, a former manager of Alicia Keys and an Israeli-American, recently went on Instagram to passionately defend her against accusations of posting an antisemitic content. In the caption of a heartfelt photo capturing their embrace, he reassured the Jewish community by confirming that the allegations are unequivocally false.

"The word mentioned in her post was particularly distressing for our community during this difficult period, although it had absolutely no correlation," he stated. "I had a conversation with Alicia, and she was appalled to discover the implications of the word and promptly removed it. Alicia has consistently advocated for the rights of all individuals. For more than ten years, I have witnessed firsthand the positive impact she has had on the world. Her humanitarian efforts resonate with her compassion and her genuine concern for others."

In a recent interview with the widely recognized radio show "The Breakfast Club," Keys disclosed her interest in paragliding.

CNN has reached out to representatives for Keys for additional comment.
